KAHUTO CHISHI QUESTIONS JOHN LONGKUMER’S QUALIFICATION AS NAGALAND’S DGP

Over the government of India’s decision to extend the tenure and deputation of Nagaland Director General of Police T. John Longkumer for another six months, Convener of Concerned People Nagaland (CPN) Kahuto Chishi Sumi questioned the move taken by the government. Expressing resentment over the extension, Chishi pointed out many things in an exclusive interview with NLTV on September 1. Chishi hit out at Nagaland government by saying that the move is illegal as Longkumer’s appointment as DGP in 2018 is a matter under sub judice in the Apex Court. He also pointed out that CPN challenged the appointment back in 2018 and the Supreme Court ordered the Nagaland government to file a petition justifying the eligibility of Longkumer’s appointment. However, since the Supreme Court is yet to examine the response from the Nagaland government, the move to extend the tenure stands null the government has no right to do so. Sumi even alleged that T. John Longkumer is from Chhattisgarh Cadre and was brought to Nagaland on June 27, 2018 to serve for one and half year but it continued for more than 4 years and most importantly Longkumer was not officially appointed as the DGP for the state but as deputation

It's not about Rubin Sharma The real issue is the stake of thousand of unemployed youth or the employees waiting for their promotion. Government or the person concerned should know how even 6 months stagnation can effect the promotion of lower officer or employees to years. I suppose you are not a government employees per se. When it comes to promotion, even 6 months or a year is a big thing that not only affects one but the whole department as a whole. The worst part of it is, the lower section suffers the most. So even if the extension was given with or without his consent, he as an officer knows way better than us on what implications it can have. So I mentioned, he should gracefully retire on moral ground. Be realistic on your argument and don’t conclude with your own perspectives.
