On the morning of December 27, 1994, a firing took place in the heart of Mokokchung town between the 16 Maratha Light Infantry (MLI) and the Naga army. This led to the Indian army committing atrocities against unarmed and innocent civilians of the town. They committed arson, rape and violence, killing seven people, while five were burnt alive and eight women were raped.

We the Nagas, younger generation should never forget how our Forefathers were tortured, brutally killed, women were raped & houses were burnt down into ashes (tears & blood)...This is just one part of the story...there are many incidents happened in many places...& getting to know all these are so painful. Thank you Takeone Nagaland Team from my bottom of my heart for covering this...This is so genuine & the story must be told to everyone.Your work is highly appreciated.

Thank u TakeOneNagaland for sharing our story... This is just a pinch of the inexplicable and unjustifiable atrocities committed on Nagas by the Indian Army but glad that the world knows now.. Wil never forget this day for sure... Forgiven or not is another thing... For the sake of the mother's and innocent souls raped and killed it is just impossible to take in what the Army did... May the souls gone find peace in our Lord...

My daddy said he went for a haircut that day. But since the salon was full of people, he went up towards the DC Hill in search of another more vacant salon for his haircut... And that is when the incident started and my daddy quickly returned home unharmed. I was still a lil' child back then and I don't remember that incident yet it sends a cold shiver down my spine everytime I hear this story.

It's sad how the Indian Armies treated us for fighting for our rights. During Emergencies, the Indian Armies separated the Men and Women just to kill the Men and raped our women. All the Nagas should read the poem called "Kelhoukevira" by Easterine Kire. It's a very touching poem. If u read the poem and don't boil your blood, u are not a Naga. Bye

To be honest in my personal opinion, Ao Naga Tribes are the boldest people amongst our whole Naga Tribes. Ao are the real warriors amongst all the Naga Tribes. No doubt they are the most advanced tribe amongst the nagas tribes. Beautifully and emotionally captured documentary. Those were the days where our Naga freedom fighters were genuinely fighting for the real causes.

@@manofculture1578 please do some research b4 terming my comment as spreading tribalism. Every tribe of nagas has faced harassment and injustice from the Indian army but the most severe harassment was faced by our Ao tribes. The reason why I mentioned the most advanced tribes amongst our nagas is based on various reasons...to name a few ...the way they run their Churches under one umbrella in unity and the way they support each other etc etc.

It gives me immense pain to hear the atrocities being inflicted by these INDIAN ARMIES. I was just a child when this had happened and I do remember a smidge of this incident narrated by my parents. My own Grandfather was a victim of these so called “Friends of the hill people” we was forcibly taken from his house on the suspicion that he was involved with the underground and was beaten up so badly however on the contrary my Grandpa didn’t even know how to pad a gun. Yes, it won’t be easy to forgive them of their actions but I believe God our Father in Heaven knows every bits of how and what they have done to our people. I forgive them not because I want to but my God wants me to do so. I just hope that peace prevails in our land once and for all in the name of Jesus.
