I played this game with my dad too (or rather, I played it, then had him play it) I’m a big baby and cry about as much as my momma, him not so much, but I’m sure the story hit him. We’re still on the epilogue, very slow progress and I haven’t asked him to play in a while.

I love this thread. I lived a few hours a way from my dad when this came out. The entire playthrough I kept thinking about how I could convince my dad to either play it, watch me play it, or at least just watch a cutscene/movie mashup. He loved westerns and tv was his nightly ritual, so we watched probably 2-3 a week on average, but he also happened to be old-fashioned enough to dislike video games and think they were a waste of time. But every once in awhile (like wii pool/billiards for some reason) I could gradually break that barrier. He passed in 2019 before I ever got the chance to even really talk to him about the game, and because of that I will never fail to get emotional for the ending. This game and its story were already lifechanging for so many people but I think it came the the perfect time for a lot of fans.

I will never forget that shock I received in my life. When I played RDR2 it gave me another shock and I was in depression for 2-3 weeks. I will make sure to take care of myself from now on. I have to take care of my mom and brother.

At 56:36, you can see the feelings of pain, regret, anguish, despair, grief, guilt, depression, and everything there is in dutch. He realizes he lost his once strong, lively son, who "gave him all he had". Despite arthur's consistent efforts in making dutch realize micah was a rat, dutch did not believe him. He still went after him, but a dying man never lies. Dutch was struck with lightning, he was helpless, he suddenly came to the realization he lost everything, just to take one step forward in his "plan". But at the same time, there was nothing he could do to save arthur at that point, he was at the verge of death. The reason he didn't kill micah either is because his army was so big dutch would end up killing himself too, and the army would absolutely hunt john and his family down. Hence, in american venom, he does this job himself after john wipes out micah's entire army. Dutch, finally had a plan, which worked. He finally avenged arthur, but ended up giving himself a lifelong medication of guilt. -Written by a random.
