We need to remember that this Bonnie "choice" was not really Bonnie's, by that time the show was already super confused and the writters didn't know what to do with it. Both Kat and Chris wanted them to be together, the redemption arc was being built, but then they just changed their mind and made this mess as an excused for Elena's curse and Nina's exit. If Bonnie could forgive Damon who she hated from day one, she could've forgiven Kai

The only reason Klaus, Damon and Stefan were able to be redeemed aside from Kai was because THEY had an anchor, family, trust, and love. Kai never had that. His family even refused to let him touch them and was called an abomination as a CHILD. Imagine the damage that puts on your psyche. Not allowed to come near or hug any of your family. Kai murdered most of his siblings because he literally had no attachment or feelings towards them because of his father. He was even being called "not even a real warlock" just because he was a siphoner and the ONE thing he looked forward to was the merge thinking maybe if he won and got real magic he'd be accepted for once in his life, but again because of his father he ripped that away from him by having Liv and Luke. He felt rage and betrayal, so he lashed out in the worst way possible. It was his father's fault. And before I get hate comments, yes, Kai killed his siblings but as I said he had no connection with them, but Damon killed Zach and his wife who he had a connection with, he killed Lexi who he knew and knew she was Stefan's best friend. Stefan, who had a connection with his own father, but he killed him. Ripper or not, he still did it. His emotional switch wasn't even off when he killed him. Klaus manipulated, hurt, and killed thousands of people, some innocent, he constantly daggered his siblings most from just disagreeing with HIS choices and actions and because he was afraid of being alone. But as I said, they only got redeemed because they had an emotional attachment, an anchor or trust an love, but Kai was never given that. If he was given love and trust I doubt he'd ever become a sociopath. One last thing that bugs me. Alaric hates Kai with every fiber of his being for killing Jo, but what about Klaus? It was like as soon as Jo entered the picture he just forgot Klaus murdered Jenna, too and just decided to stop wanting to seek revenge? (Before the whole ending of the Originals, of course.) Okay, explanation and rant done.

Of all the redemption arcs we've seen on this show when it comes to villains, his was the most interesting. I hate that they showed his potential to be good and then how quickly it was swept away. It makes sense considering no one was willing to give him a second chance (like Damon/Klaus got) but at the same time, I wish it was different. He had no one on his side.

Yeah cause if you look back Kai only congratulated Jo in being pregnant he had to know her pregnancy would cause him to lose leadership of the coven. He could have killed her right there, but he didn't. He walked away. He said he wanted to leave and go back to his hometown, to start over, have a life, but not before he apologized to Bonnie and her actions caused him to want revenge and he killed his coven and his sister out of rage and feeling betrayed.

See, I was wondering why that is and then I realized every one of them had family who despite the the horrible things they did still loved them deep down and would still protect them but Kai didn't have that because every time he would try to form an emotional connection to literally anyone they would reject or betray him or both and he would snap and then be labeled as the bad guy even though there was a clear solution each and every time. Give him a chance and he could be a powerful ally but reject him and he's an even more terrifying enemy. The one you could've stopped before the rampage began.

His parents made him the way he was, you can't blame someone who spent his childhood locked in a room, hearing that he's a mistake/ abomination, seeing your twin get everything in life, and saying that thing when he came back to kill joe f Bonnie was the good one she would have took him back instead of leaving him behind in 1972( I'm not sure but it's when he came back with Lilly) if Bonnie can give Damon and Enzo a clean slate, attend the wedding regardless what happened a day before then I think she could have given kai a chance all he was looking for a friend
