I love how Mokuba just grows a spine in this scene. It really got Seto to consider if Yugi/Atem were actually right about him.

Yes, brilliant that Mokuba got some deeper characterisation and a show of maturity. Mokuba is only an ancillary tertiary supporting character--even background, some might say less generously--but it's testament to the writing & characters of YGO that even he gets onscreen moments to develop and change and grow.

In many ways, he's like Vegeta. He's very skillfulled, even a genius, but he's also incredibly arrogant and way too obsessed with being the best. Much like Vegeta, that denial has only held him back.

Technically he has been mind crushed twice. In season zero he was mind crushed so harsh he was put into a temporary coma where in his mind he could think threw his actions and realize his mistakes. (Yami did this on purpose so Kaiba could have a chance at becoming a better person.) That being said, apparently getting his mind crushed twice wasn’t enough, because it took Mokuba telling him off to get threw his thick skull.

It's not even really hate on Seto's part by the end of the series. He's just got so used to grumbling about Yugi & friends, and lacks so much social skill, that he's painted himself into a corner and can't work out how to backtrack and befriend them.

@@UfoLoche He always had respect for Yugi at least, because he had to. Yugi beat him when he was at his best and the standing World Champion. So I can see him giving Yugi a leg up for both that reason and because he knows that a game made by the King of Games is going to make BANK! So I wouldn't doubt that he made a pretty penny off of either Yugi's game via distribution or as a partner in some way.

In DSOD he did, slightly, but nonetheless he did change. Spoilers: During the final duel he teamed up WILLINGLY with Yugi to battle Diva. In the battle Diva activates a spell card of sorts and aims the attack at Yugi, instead of letting Yugi get hit, Kaiba saves Yugi by somehow directly Diva’s attack to himself, KNOWING FULLY WELL HE WOULD *NOT* SURVIVE DIVA’S ATTACK Also at the end of the Duel Monsters Dub Kaiba says “I guess there is some truth to all of this” and either Tristan or Joey points that out saying “Did you hear that?! He admitted it was real!” Or something along those lines. Kaiba defends himself(jokingly) saying, “No I said it was all a hocus pocus mind trick” and the group erupts into laughter (together) He did change although he was still obsessed as hell with the Pharaoh 👍 Sorry for this explanation, it’s just a personal opinion and observations.

I think it's kind of sad how despite what it showed Mokuba and Yami Yugi saying to Seto there, Seto never really learned anything.

Not the Japanese version. In that version, Mokuba’s words are a wake up call for Seto and he would try to overcome his anger and hatred by building an amusement for orphans.
