Full props to her, on a night where Rock and Roll was the theme, she was the only one to Rock it out! Sad really, Rock has an amazing catalogue of songs and these kids had no idea what rock was, shame they didn’t get more of a history lesson to learn how important that time was and how many influential songs were produced in that era, c’mon American Idol you can do better than that! By the way Gene Simmons was perhaps the most gracious, enjoyable and informative guest the show has ever had!

It wasn't until after he died that I discovered that my older brother auditioned for Gene Simmons. I believe it was when Ace Frehley left Kiss in the early 80s. I didn't know that until just recently. But I was with him when he co-wrote a song that was recorded by Joan Jett. No, it's not "I Hate Myself For Loving You"; it's "Too Bad On Your Birthday" from her 'Bad Reputation' album. I was with my brother when he co-wrote that song, and it was around that time that Herbie Worthington came to stay with us. He did the album cover for Lita Ford's "Out For Blood". It also wasn't until recently that I discovered that I share the same birthday as Lita Ford. What does it mean? It means something.

I found it somewhat depressing that only like 4 contestants sang actual rock songs on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame night. Like her singing a Joan Jett song, Will singing Bob Seger, Abi singing Elton John, and someone else singing a Radiohead song.
