Charles Oliveira:
Charles Oliveira da Silva (born 17 October 1989) is a Brazilian professional mixed martial artist[8] and 3rd degree black belt Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner.
Oliveira started training Brazilian jiu-jitsu in his youth, achieving multiple championship titles before transitioning to MMA in 2007. Oliveira currently competes in the Lightweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is the former UFC Lightweight Champion. Oliveira holds multiple UFC records, notably the most submission wins in the organization's history at 16, most finishes at 20 and most bonuses at 19
As of May 10, 2022, he is #1 in the UFC lightweight rankings and as of August 22, 2023, he is #6 in the UFC men's pound-for-pound rankings.
Oliveira faced former three-time Bellator Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler for the vacant UFC Lightweight Championship, following previous champion Khabib Nurmagomedov's retirement, while headlining UFC 262 on May 15, 2021. Despite being dropped by Chandler in the first round, Oliveira won the fight via technical knockout early in the second round to claim the UFC Lightweight Championship. With the knockout win, he broke yet another record, recording the most finishes in UFC history. This win also earned Oliveira the Performance of the Night bonus award.
Oliveira is booked to challenge Islam Makhachev in a rematch for the lightweight world championship at UFC 294 on October 21, 2023.

Islam Ramazanovich Makhachev born 27 October 1991) is a Russian professional mixed martial artist and former Sambo competitor. He currently competes in the Lightweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is the current UFC Lightweight Champion. A professional competitor since 2010, Makhachev was the combat sambo world champion at 74 kilograms in 2016.
Makhachev faced Charles Oliveira for the vacant UFC Lightweight Championship at UFC 280 on 22 October 2022. Makhachev won the bout and the title in the second round via arm-triangle choke after knocking down Oliveira with a punch. With this win, he received the Performance of the Night bonus
In November 2022, Makhachev was awarded Order "For Merit to the Republic of Dagestan" for his achievement in martial arts.
As of 7 March 2023, he is #3 in the UFC men's pound-for-pound rankings.
Makhachev defended his title against the UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski on 12 February 2023 at UFC 284. Makhachev won via unanimous decision. This fight earned him the Fight of the Night award.
Makhachev is scheduled to make his second title defense in a rematch against Charles Oliveira on 21 October 2023, at UFC 294.

Watching the run Charles had over the past few years has been more exciting than any other run by any fighter ever. For me anyway. If he beats Islam then I think he's the best lw ever. If he loses then he'll be number 3 behind Khabib and Islam. I cant wait man

Because if he wins in that style then that tells me that he was off the first fight with Islam. And I do think Khabib was great, he was so dominant. But he left a little early to be considered the lightweight goat. You stick around long enough and you're going to lose eventually. Charles has been in the UFC since he was twenty and has the most submissions and finishes ever. That's in the history of the company. That's over 30 years. How many fighters can say that? Only one pal. So yes in my opinion Charles would be the absolute best if he beat Islam in the second fight. What's your opinion? Do you have one, or you just here to criticize?

Islam is dedicated, focused and not distracted by material things. Both him and Charles had humble beginnings and I respect them, but Islam is a truly elite fighter - one of a rare breed. If Charles has worked hard and improved since their last fight, Islam has worked harder and improved more.
