Journalist Dipak Rawal has tied a traditional Miteri Saino (friendship bond) with the endangered Rautes community in Surkhet. Rawal, who has been actively involved in producing news and awareness content about the Rautes' way of life, culture, and attire for a long time, tied the Miteri Saino with Gobinda Shahi, the son of Rautes' leader Dil Bahadur Shahi.
Rawal, who visited the Rautes' settlement at Rani Ghat in Birendranagar-1, Surkhet, exchanged local chicken, a white scarf, and a Nepali Dhaka cap, following the traditional Rautes customs to establish the *Miteri Saino*. After the *Miteri Saino*, Rawal discussed the current situation and issues faced by the Rautes community, commenting that "the government provides allowances but has not introduced any concrete plans to improve their standard of living."
