You can get that aggressive tone on an acoustic if you use a REALLY thick pick and tune down a half/whole step

If you practise some palmmuting and alternate picking theycab sound really good on acoustic. Also try smoke on the water with a pick, playing 00, 33, 55 etc on the G and D string, and learn to add the base line (low E 0,1,2,333..01233 move to a string: 11 333 11and repeat) play them together!
