Don’t have to water change as much they don’t create a huge bio load he prob does water changes like every two weeks but it also depends on how much you feed and at this time you don’t feed as much so you can go as far as a month without no water change they are so low Maintenance🤙🏽🤙🏽💯

During the breeding season I do do water changes, about once a week(on everything) but I'm just being excessive for breeding purposes. That being said about 99% of keepers will tell you they don't do water changes. Only top offs. And I'm completely in the same thought process. I've kept mine through the winter (since late October) without doing any water changes at all and there are zero issues. 🤙

@kenjiro26762 жыл бұрын
They are colorful and hardy, it’s easy to breed hardy fish if you keep them outside and let Mother Nature do the culling for you. For this reason alone, they are better than guppies. They are colorful AND hardy, despite all the inbreeding, they are also being selectively bred, by proxy, to have strong immune systems because they are being raised outside.

...there really is no secret. They breed like rabbits. Females lay about 1 egg a day when they hit maturity. The reason why they're so hardy is because they're on the lower point on the food chain and have a short life span. I give mine away for practically free because I have so many. For instance my Pearl Galaxy Medaka sell for $1 each cuz they're so common. My tri colors for $5. I also use them as feeder fish. I know I'm going to get a lot of backlash but I don't care about making money or profit from these fish, lol.

You do better outside because of the light...Go look up Scientific name and you will most likely find the same videos I did. I started with this" Oryzias woworae - Daisy's Ricefish" when I was looking into Ricefish as something to keep....lots of choices. These fish are all through asia...this is just the Japanese version. (seems hardier than the rest when it comes to temps was my read) They spawn heaviest with 16 hrs of light and 8 hrs of darkness and least with 16 hrs of darkness and 8 hrs of light.....temp affected spawning noticeably after something like 20 degrees....(assuming 80 degree and a fall to 59) aka warmer temps and longer days produced largest egg clutches. They also said as long as the water they are in doesn't freeze solid, some will survive and May only spawn a few if Any eggs.
