The song was written and originally performed by Marty Robbins, US western singer, in 1959. This is Geoff's "updated" version of the song - he added some music and lyrics to it, but did it so smoothly that unless you're pretty familiar with the original, you'll never know what Geoff added. Check out the video description for Geoff's tortured relationship with the song. The song you were trying to remember is I See Fire, a song written for the second Hobbit movie, The Desolation of Smaug. It's absolutely my favorite video that Geoff has put out!

It is based on a Marty Robbins song from way back, but it has been used in both Red Dead Redemption 2 and Fallout: New Vegas. Geoff did a short of this song a while back, and then we patrons kept asking for a full version, and this was the result. He added a verse and a number of bridges as well.

The song has been around for more than 60 years.

Just letting you know..... Geoff Castelucci just released his new video on his patreon Thursday August 1st. It is absolutely beautiful. A classic from the 1970s. He should be releasing it on KZbin around August 12th.

Red dead redemption wasn't even an idea when this song came out in 1959. In fact no video game was.

No, no, no, this is an old Marty Robbins song, from 1959, long before games like that existed (you're too young to know Marty Robbins) but Geoff has done Unshaken from Red Dead Redemption, a game that first appeared in 2010. Check it out. However, this song had only verses originally so Geoff added a chorus and a bridge. I'm guessing you haven't watched many old Western movies. :)

It wasn't used in Red dead.or Red dead 2 but was in fact 1 of the pip boy radio songs broadcasted in the Fallout: New Vegas video game. So in a way you were right that it is featured in a video game. Just not the Red Dead Redemption series.

Nope, sorry, you are wrong, but Red Dead Redemption may have been very loosely based on the old western songs and tales.
