Hey Giorgi! Yes, mostly. Not every time and it is not completely done on a lathe, but lathe is a big part of it, especially for didges like Kairos. It also allows me, when I put mouthpiece and bell end, to have a "slot" to put it on, not just glue two faces together. Hope that helps!
