Today we are baking traditional Viennese bread rolls, in Vienna these are known as Semmel or Kaiser Semmel. Back in the 17th century only a few bakers in Austria where allowed to bake the Royal Bread roll as it was considered a luxury using fine flour. Eventually they where made available to everyone and today they are a signature side dish in Austria.
Surprisingly, they are very easy to make, all you will need are a few ingredients and some 50-60 minutes of your time. This recipe will yield 9 rolls so multiply according to your needs. As always, if you have any questions, leave them in the comments :)
Here are the Ingredients for the Viennese kaiserroll recipe.:
3,2 Cups or 400 g Flour All Purpose or 00
1 Tsp or 8 g Salt
2/3 Tsp or 5 g Sugar
0.53 Oz or 15 g Butter at room temperature
1.76 Oz or 50 g Milk at room temperature
6.7 Oz or 190 g Water between 22c and 24c
0.53 Oz or 15 g Dry Yeast or Fresh if available
