But due to the failures of his own politicans, and the warmoungering of his and others politicans mainly in Austria and Russia then yeah. The situation was out of his controll. Even during the war, he tried to mediate peace. But he was overruled by his generals and ignored by the entante.

@nathanlapointe16653 ай бұрын
He tried, he was convinced by his advisors to leave for his scheduled vacation during the crisis as it was considered solved when Serbia accepted almost all of the demands. Wilhelm said something to the effect of "this is good news, now Austria can save it's dignity and all just cause for a war has been avoided" When he heard that Austria was mobilizing he rushed back to Germany, sending letters on the way. He convinced the Austrian emperor to cancel the invasion and instead add a provision where Austria would occupy Serbia's capital until the accepted demands were fulfilled. However, Wilhelm was too late and the invasion was already underway when the Austrian emperors orders to cancel arrived, this delay was possibly an intentional act by the Austrian emperor's army chief of staff.

@@darkknight6432 Tell me you dont actually believe that... the Entente was quite evidently moments away from shattering after Germany had broken trench warfare with tanks with the Entente following suit with the same war machines.... Germany held control of the skies and were bombing the Entente to pieces with their zeppelins., and on top of that Germany had 2 million trained conscripts that were ready to make haste for the front line... Let's not forget about the fact that Woodrow Wilson sent two million something fresh conscripts with absolutely no training or idea of what the Great War would be like in which nearly half of them would die in the trenches from inexperience and disease. The Entente spent the latter half of the war finding ways to cheat their own victory and low and behold they succeeded. All it took was a few bought out men to create mass confusion amongst the German ranks of the army and of the government to send them spiraling into defeat.

Wilhelm II demonstrably advocated for peace during his reign by undertaking various diplomatic efforts. However, he was often overshadowed by complex political and international tensions and ultimately found himself in a difficult situation. It is important to emphasize that the responsibility for the outbreak of World War I does not rest solely on him, He was just as responsible for this as the french. The war had many causes and involved various actors, all of whom had their share of the events...

@@gevsondybeli the alliance between A-H and germany was defensive in nature (to protect in case of russian invasion) with A-H not attacking Serbia there is no insentive for Russia to intervene. Therefore it was not strictly necessary for Wilhelm to back austria all the way, since it was an offensive action on A-H part. But did he act upon that? Did he tell A-H to go suck it because they were the ones attacking? No he went the war path because he thought Russia to be not ready for war and thus the schlieffenplan would have been easily executed (i.e fuck france deal with russia later bc they not ready yet). He called it a perfect moment for war. No german backing no austrian attack no russian mobilisation etc. He did in my opinion not defend his "brother in arms" he urged them on to attack.

i truely hate how much people think they know history yet claim germany was the bad guys. they fought to defend an ally. what they did in beligum was wrong but it was a move to try to mitigate a long war. the road to hell is paved with good intentions. the french and british were imperialist oppressors and france wanted revenge on the prussians/germnay for their defeat of the 2nd french empire before it could become a threat on the world stage. france and england have always been the bad guys in europe and people think because of nazis they werent evil. really sad what propaganda does. wilhelm tried to create a peace in europe that the brits broke their alliance because germany wanted a navy.. unholy alliance was formed that day and has ruined our world. millions died because of france, and england.
