Pro Tip: if you’re really stuck for an air pump, just go in to Kmart in the fishing section and get one of their Jarvis Walker battery powered bait air pumps. They’re good as a stop gap measure, especially with the power cuts from the storms lately.

I’m almost done with college, I’m going for marine bio and can’t wait to travel to Australia. I wanna research all kinds of marine life I’m a fish hobbyist in the states, I keep many tanks with endangered fish species and I would love to donate some to Keepingfishsimple and his new shop to breed and produce more for Australia. I’ll be bring 4 goodeids species when I move down there

Wow two beautiful young women full of spunk and doing what I have always loved to do, go splashing around in a creek catching native fish for my aquariums. I am getting old now, nearly 69, and unable to go splashing around in a creek by myself. You both have some beautiful big tanks so I can see money is not a problem for you and you just enjoy catching native fish in the creek. In my opinion, there is just nothing more fun than this. And to top it off you can catch swordtails, barbs, platies, mollies, and more. You are lucky. I live in the State of Ohio, USA, and near where I live is a hidden canyon that the Grand River headwaters passes through. It is just a wide and shallow creek at that upper river location. It has high rock clifts on both sides. There is an old wooden covered bridge where I like to go. Upriver, there is the remains of an Erie Indian village in the clifts that date back 500 years or more. It is all owned by a private camp for wealthy people to send their kids. I use to know the administrator and was on friendly terms with him. He would even allow me to take in my Native American friends to see the ruins. When he passed away they got this new fellow who doesn't let anyone in except his paying customers. I sneak in downriver. He doesn't own the river anyway. It is a public waterway. The canyon is beautiful and the creekbed is full of really cool native fishes under and among the many rocks in the stream bed. Two really interesting ones are the North American Darter and Sculpins. I will send you some pictures of them. Also, I will send you a link to my Aquarium Encyclopedia you might find interesting. docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vQ_51LzP8ZCUDY5v8zUz7XciGTrR-kkQqbfWm3zdTYlUZwpvLwkmDb_JLp2XA51Fq9rj_bk8RvHikSR/pub docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vRiJmhv0W3R93t981s0hrxetCp5LPyeNwti20MkTlMQQbm4o0ttHKi-nIeFrLct55Q9oedIe6j4PyDJ/pub

I'm in Canada, so my local fish are not that great for aquariums, so I have to go the import route for colourful fish. I fell in love with the "Rainbows" of Australia, so many varieties from the different regions. Hardy active friendly schooling fish, some get a decent size, and there are micro rainbows as well. I now breed these for my local stores

Another great video. If your ever in need for a portable air pump the best places Ive found is little bait shops. I was wondering if you have many turtles there (and whether they like Vegemite). If you do, and they ever go into traps, you might want to leave the trap with at least one end exposed to the air so that turtles have a place to get air. You don't leave your traps in the water for very long, so maybe it doesn't matter. I subscribe to some kids who trap in South Florida, and it was very sad to see a beautiful Painted Turtle who had drowned in a fully submerged trap. They leave their nets for hours, so maybe this doesn't apply to you. I have no idea how long a turtle can stay submerged before needing air, but I thought I'd mention this. Definitely do more videos with your friend.👍

Here in Malaysia, the local aquarium shops only sell Neon and Boesemani rainbows. Very rarely see other rainbows. I’m really jealous of seeing the huge variety available down under

Rhads are found as south as Coffs harbour. They’re really common in Sunshine Coast to Fraser Island areas but there are rhads in southern QLD/Northern NSW. For example, one of the most beautiful variations come from Evans Head. Look for the article Rhads by Leo O’reily on Fishes of Sahul magazine. It has all the info from where to catch, how to breed, reference photos for the colour variations, etc. If you can’t find it, I have a copy.

There are also populations in southern Brisbane and Redlands Shire as well as a few of the Islands like Bribie, Morton, and North Stradbroke, but the location were Kaity got these are thought to of been released by someone, they are found as far south in the Nambucca River to north in the Mary River then there is a break of about 350km where there is other small populations in the Byfield region, I recently did a video for the ANGFA convention you can find on my channel of the Brisbane population that was thought to be extinct, I have also been out with Leo documenting some of these other locations, south of the Sunshine Coast they are all pretty similar with small different characteristics were the nicer ones seem to be around the Frazer Coast region, I can pass on a copy of the PDF I also have Gunther Schmidt's PDF's he gave me when I helped him with fish for his photography.
