Did I miss the TRMS measurement? Kaiweets appears to be upping their game. What was the wire at 18:45 that sorta looks like a shunt?

Very knowledgeable on the aspects of the working condition of the multimeter which does a lot for the price and I believe it is well-made Bsa Home improvement. Contractor definitely is a 4+ rating.

I never would have expected Kaiweets to be so innovative and try to do something so radically different. I hope some sort of visual current indicator becomes standard on all future meters; it wouldn't take much to change the font color, style, make it blink, etc whenever leads are in the current jacks.

Darren sir while checking dc voltages in smart auto mode when set is in off position,it may show resistance mode then if sudden voltage comes then it harms the multimeter or meter immidiate change to voltage mode after resistance mode.secondly if capacitor open or weak then what kind of votage it shows ac or dc or show error(in micronta multimeter error comes like blinking display with sound) give damage to multimeter.also explain 6000 count with 9000 count difference.thanks

Hey Darren, great review! By chance, do you think you could start shorting the leads on diode mode so we can see if there is a continuous beep when shorted in diode mode? The way some Fluke meters behave. Still looking for a Cheap-O that does that. Thank you Darren! Still loving both my Aneng AN8008 and Kaiweets HT118A, but no continuous beep on diode short. After three weeks the KM601 is perfect. I needed a replacement set of "leads," and the Kaiweet's support team is second to one ...they sent me what I needed and more. I received a better response from the support team than you do on a new car, or new appliances at Lowes, or just about anything I've purchased in the past ten years that required contact with customer support.

As soon as I saw the first video on this multi meter, I ordered one post haste. For what you pay for this multi meter, you get a fabulous tool. There is just so much you can do with it and what a great display. I have no complaint about the lead location. You aimed the plugs down so you could not lay the meter on it's back. I aim the plugs up and have no issue what so ever with them. Yes, my Fluke has the plugs on the front face of the meter and that is nice. The plug location on this meter is no big deal for me. I never saw it as an issue. Good video, thanks for posting it. Barry

I *really* like it and I really want it but boyyyy.... That continuity mode delay.... Ouch. Even the stand and glare I can forgive them. But that's delay means I need to use another meter for that in a lot of use cases. Did you already find out what the total screen-on time is before the batteries run out? And the fuses, are they the beefy sand ones or normal glass fuses?

Hi. I my Kaiweets KM-601 just arrived (it's the rebranded Habotest HT116, not sure if they have the same build quality). Is it really like that when it's in Auto/Smart Mode- if I measure a capacitor, it automatically uses the Ohms which is wrong coz' that's for resistors. Also is this acceptable tolerance, they're capacitors that were slightly used (just minutes) but they're not exactly branded: 1) 330uF but it reads 348.4uF 2) 100uF but it reads 93.52uF 3) 470uF but it read 480.9 uF 4) 33uF but it reads 38uF 5) 680uF but reads 1.024mF (milliFarads) *I'm not sure if this capacitor is still working even though it's just slightly used 6) 100uF but reads 93.51uF 7) 1000uF but reads 988uF For the Resistor test (the bands are starting from the left are: yellow, violet, brown and far from the 3 is gold, it's chunky resistor used for discharging): 470ohms (+/- 5%) but reads 472ohms I did initially use three 1.2v Eneloop recharchegables but that didn't seem enough voltage, I switch to fairly used AAA non-rechargeable batteries which had this charge 1.5, 1.5 & another 1.490v (batteries are now at 1.490v X-D after a hour of use) What's the best AAA battery for this? Eveready's non-rechargeable lithium ones or rechargeable lithium from 1.5v non-branded chinese rechargeable lithium (Kaizen brand= it's seems it copied Smartools)? Thank you. Please advise if I should refund this if the readings are too far from the values. God bless, Rev. 21:4
@KeepOnTesting
@KeepOnTesting Жыл бұрын
The readings look good 👍 Capacitance is never spot on but it's definitely in spec. Btw the Smart/Auto mode doesn't work in Capacitance hence the resistance display. Battery wise, my favorite is the Rayovac Fusion (Alkaline)..they last forever..won't leak and have lots of power. Keep the multimeter..it's a good one!

Hello Darren! Thanks, as always, for your always spot-on and "fluff-less", professional reviews of the barrage of test gear available today. I personally am not a big fan of "smart meters" however, this Kaiweets meter has me reconsidering, what with a dedicated Auto Power Off bypass switch which is just simply AWESOME! Too many digital VOM manufacturers' meters seem to always shut off on me right while I am in the middle of troubleshooting, and I find myself getting "time out" meter anxiety... Really! If you know what I mean then you have probably been there yourself my friend!. I end up rushing to troubleshoot a circuit because I know that any second the darn meter is going to beep and turn off on me. I really despise that and here KAIWEETS is showing all of the other manufacturers: Hey! that Auto Power Off feature is really flipp'in annoying at times and "lets make it EASY to deactivate it, right... Why not? I am tempted to get one of these little beauties JUST because of this SUPER thoughtful and useful feature. Honestly, the power consumption of these newer VOMs is so low, the APO feature should just be OFF by default, and be a feature that the user can activate, if they are that worried about the $2.50 worth of household batteries, getting depleted a little sooner/faster. Hey, just my $0.02 opinion buddy. I hope that you are doing well Darren and thank you again for this valuable test equipment evaluation service, which you provide for all of us. Love ya man! Fred

The glare of the display can be easily tackled by applying a cutout of matte tempered glass which will not only prevent smudges but also protect it from fall damage. I really like the case, I tend to be hard on my meters with the leads getting sloppy in the connection, this becomes my number one fail point. (As well as breaking the screen), I like the way this looks, far more like a phone, place to put the test leads. Since I don't like to carry too much extra stuff around, it falls out, I have to shove it someplace the thermal couple will probably get lost, so when I go to test that thermal glass heating oven I am building I will have trouble finding it. Cable management, different banana plugins, every device having different leads. I will get organized one of these days when someone designs something extremely universal.

Over time curiosity got the best of me since my last comments below and I bought this meter a few weeks ago-- on mine the continuity seems noticeably better than the example in this review, hopefully they made some improvement in that area. However the NCV on mine is about the same but I dont place any faith in 90 percent of multimeter NCV functions anyway. It does feel well engineered and well built, doesnt feel cheap and gotta love that color display, but I also wish the jacks were on the face of the meter and not out the bottom

An impressive design on Kaiweets part, as often the NCV needs much improvement, the continuity as well and that power button is badly placed, too easy to hit it when not wanting to. But - even though I usually dont care for smart phone style meters this one really shows big steps forward in this type of design, with just a few tweaks in the right places this can be a top contender.

I sometime considered to buy this gadget like multimeter. But then I was also thinking about its robustness, especially its big screen. Screen could be cracked in a tool bag or dropped on concrete. Multimeter is a tool to help my work, i need it strong n ready when i need it. I already have cats that sometime i think they are bosses at home. No multimeter boss.

Kaiweets is so sweeeeets. So far, I have the Kaiweets HT118A which is like the Habotest HT118. For the price I think it's a good meter. Thanks for the review. Please register me for the contest.

Hello Darren Walker channel friends. Could you use Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAA batteries for this amazing KM601 multimeter? Also could you use rechargeable lithium batteries like VapCell 1.5v AAA for this? Thank you. God bless, stay safe.

Hello my friend...yes to both. Although rechargeable batteries probably won't last as long as regular. 👍

@@KeepOnTesting Thanks. Create a new series for 2023 and beyond wherein you modify the subcomponents (maybe better branded caps, OLED, shielding, proper grounding) of the insides of the gadgets. Start the 'Make it Way Better' series with the amazing KM601 :-) God bless, Rev. 21:4

@@KeepOnTesting Yup. Btw, I painstakingly bought Energizer lithium batteries (they seem hard to get, it used to be in drugstores- must be the battery shortage), it seems more alive and may even be more accurate and a little bit longer range in the NCV function (it can detect things through the plywood it couldn't before, some switches like the Philips have panels that too thick though, it can't detect it- I hope you find an elegant modification for its NCV :-) By the when when do you remove the batteries, how many days in storage before you remove the batteries to keep it from leaking and draining? Also, Linus Tech Tips went back to corded security cams (coz' it's tough to recharge batteries if there are a lot of security cams), what improvements that's still affordable will you improve in their design (perhaps it can be used on multimeters without soldering for those who don't go out of the field): kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIXTfIBqaLubraM Thanks :-)

@@KeepOnTesting Hi, happy Lenten Season & advanced Easter (the most important day of all). This could be an example of a gadgets modification series (best to put it in a Playlist so it's continuous while we do projects it's playing) you could create for 2023 into the end of the 21st century 2077: 'Paano Lagyan ng Range, Min/Max at REL - Delta Relative Function ang Zotek ZT102 Digital Multimeter' on the channel 'DIY Pinoy Teknisyan'. The Zotek ZT102 mod there, I'm not sure how he figured out where to solder the wires & where he got the idea but he turned the US$10 ZT102 (recommending to review this coz' of it's huge modification possibilities) into a US$25 to US$30 multimeter. :-) It's like he overclocked a 3.5Ghz to 7Ghz to 10.5Ghz and it looks cool too w/ those Game Boy SP tactile switches, like Mad Max 2, like cyberpunk. God bless, stay safe, see you all in heaven as Revelation 21:4 describes.

I have yet to see your review but I also have this meter and I have to say this. Beautiful display but the continuity mode sucks. Even with good gold probes and meter set to continuity mode not auto. If you do cell and computer repair avoid this one. Needs a stand. Flashlight is weak. Probes on bottom are ok but I think I prefer them on front especially with no stand.
