Two trailers I recommend you go over are "Your Color" Acheron trailer since it will be more satisfying than watching the in game ad. Since the ad is directly connected to that trailer. The second which is probably that you were bugged about it sparkles' trailer "Monodrama" which has a great score. It could also be about the Myriad Celestia Trailer - "Sparkle: Behind the Curtain" whish a fully animated trailer which is interesting. I would love to see a deeper analysis on these, since while I like them, I want to know what makes them so enthralling.

A little explanation in the Black Swan/Acheron animation Black Swan, as a Memokeeper, is a living Memory, a meme that can take physical form. When she looked into Acheron's memories, she glimpsed the True form of IX, the Nihility, which is a black hole. In that instant, Black Swan was very nearly close to the one thing that could destroy memories. True Emptiness.

She's a memetic entity, similar to Penacony's memes, or the Memokeeper aboard the express. Well, I think she's actually Cremator based on some of her statements in the short, but she'd be a memtic entity regardless. Unlike Penacony's memes she has some control over memoria, meaning she can exist outside Penacony.

Hoyo animators go hard, glad you found them. If you're looking for more in that universe, there are a number of Star Rail character trailers that have a lot of cinematic depth. They are 2-ish minutes, and graphically, much closer to what you'd experience in game. There are a lot of these trailers, some not quite as deep, but the top 5 (imo), Acheron, Kafka, Blade, Sparkle, and Silverwolf, are excellent and well worth a watch.

Two other animated shorts from Star Rail I recommend watching are "Monodrama" and "Your Color", in that order. Monodrama is about the girl (Sparkle) with the mask and the fish, and Your Color is about Acheron, the girl that demolishes Black Swan in her memory. The art is striking, and the music is superb.

This is a big hole u are about to fall in couse both Honkai Star Rail and Honkai Impact 3rd animated shorts are mindblowing both in how they tell stories and the amazing music. In case of HSR, the Animated shorts are there to cover some gaps in lore or to tease the players with upcoming content. I suggest u check out the Character trailers of this game as some will make some of the shorts make sense but also becouse they are master pieces in every way. The myriad Celestia trailers are also very facinating since they show lore but are there with the rest when it comes to visual and audio storytelling.

@@kaizammit Honkai Impact 3rd is where they started doing animations so you'll see massive techical improvements. But also that someone there really knows how to frame a story even from the early days. Also important note is that while Star Rail animations don't happen in the game. HI3 animations are actual parts of the story that usually play as a conclusion to an arc.

i dont know if you noticed that the lion and dragon from the 4th animation are the main characters from the 1st two you watched, it represent them (and a very important battle from the story) plus it was released around CN new year (the year of the dragon) it was very fiting, thats why you kept seeing the same characters, the two are very connected, along side jingliu too

Honkai impact 3rd animations are typically mixing 3D CG and 2d in a creative way to make the animations look good, note that these animations are much older for the company and you get to see how the animation teams got better over time, from a small indie mobile game company with no PC ports to a billion dollar company that is top 10 private companies in the world. With triple A games. Honkai Impact 3rd is probably the best indicator of a team that has developed over time while making a sad yet hopeful story giving us great connections with the main cast. (I highly recommend using a user-submitted Playlist rather then the offical Hoyo one to go in order)

This video was great, hope you check out the Honkai Star Rail character trailers. They are just as beautiful and show what the in game artsyle is. My personal recommendations would be all of them haha but if I had to pick a few I would say the trailers for Kafka, Black Swan, Sparkle and Acheron stand out the most to me personally. They trailers are usually around 2 minutes each give or take. Hope to see more!

I think the most powerful part about Rondo Across Countless Calpas is that it's Black Swan (the main character with the hood) is that it's so erotic because she is quite literally invading the "memories" and the mind of the other woman. It's inherently a very intimate task, and yet it's utterly turned on her with that incredible predatorial imagery.

If you wanna see an anime director who tries to make every scene look like it was shot by a real camera, look no further than Naoko Yamada. The movie, Liz and the Blue Bird, is what happens when you give her free reign. She makes excellent use of diegetic sound in that film too. I recommend watching Sound Euphonium before the movie though since it's part of a larger series. She and Kyoto Animation do stunning work.

With the Lion and Dragon animation, the Dragon respresents "the boy with the water powers" and the Lion reprensents "the white haired guy from the first animation." Right before the water magic comes in with the save you'll see Jing Yuan(white hair) give a quick glance/nod to Dang Heng(the dragon guy). And they can share that wavelength because before his reincarnation Dan Heng was best friends with Jing Yuan; truly the story of the Lion and the Dragon

I really enjoyed your insights on the animation for the Flash short. It was fascinating to see you point out details I never noticed, even on repeated watches XD If you found these interesting, a lot of Honkai Star Rail character and myriad celestia trailers are quite good watches as well. Some of their early trailers are a little lower in quality, but you can notice that they started gaining their stride (and budget XD) as they made more trailers. Plus! If you found some of the characters here interesting, those trailers would fill in a lot of gaps for you with their storytelling I think

If you liked these animated short i bet you would love to see the myriad trailer and character trailers. These animated shorts usually are for VERY important characters (1st one with the white haired guy, 2nd one the water dragon guy, or the gambler guy), an advert or a celebration. while the myriad trailer usually is more for world building and lore stuff, things that expand the game's universe. And finally the character trailers where its one of the best thing to watch if you wanna know about a specific character, how they play in game, show parts of their lore or teases what they do in the story

if you feel you need to understand the dialogues better, hoyo videos generally always have closed caption available. it definitely saved me more often than not (english isn't my first language and audio processing is hard sometimes)

The Animated Shorts Hoyo makes are really good. If you are interested there is also a whole playlist of Animated Shorts for one of Hoyo's other games Honkai Impact 3rd which i would recommend. Those go hard aswell and most of those are in game and happen at the climax of specific story arcs.

The first one is a Fight between Jing Yuan (the White haired Man) and Jing Liu (The white haired girl) she has Red eyes to begin with, but when she got Mara Struck (which is the main point here) she got the deep red eyes. you See the difference in the "Flashback" of her training the very young Jing Yuan, that there is a difference in the Eyecolor. she is proud of him because he is still follow the promise they made Jing Yuan has 2 eyes, dont worry, but his Bangs are always covering his right eye. in the Scene at 50:45 he is saying "Farewell Master, your gift of instruction, i´ll repay in this Strike" at 11:35 the right most Girl is the Female Trailblazer (Main Character) for the 12:20, her Name is Sparkle, in JP its Hanabi (Firework) shes of the actual Story Progression, and yet to take much action. 14:05 , thats basicly only for the Chinese New Year, the Lantern Rite, but it also tells the tale of that World we traveled and the Boss fight. The Lion represents the Big White Haired Man in the First Animation you watched (Jing Yuan) and the Dragon represents the black haired one from the Dragon Animation. Both are showed after the one girl (Guinaifen) nearly fell. The Dancevideo, well, everyone got caught by surprise how it turned out. Black swan (The Girl with the Veil) tried to look into the Memorys of Acheron (the other girl) but she found out that the Hunter (black swan) became the Prey insted of the other way around. for the "Advert" you would need to see the Acheron Trailer "Your color" because its in that essential. the one at 25:50 thats an a Story Segment of the 2.1 Version Story Part which got Animated yes there is another Honkai Game, Name is "Honkai Impact 3rd" if you want to have a blast (and content) watch every Animation short, there are many, its lovely and even more you WILL get Emotional at some point. Everyone gets Emotional at some point in any of the 3 Big Hoyoverse Games (Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact 3rd or Honkai Star Rail). But as a little tip, if you watch more and want to know what happens because some are maybe in Japansese or Chinese, especially the Honkai Impact 3rd ones (they dont have a English voiceover) then enable the Subtitels, many do have them. If you love these trailers, then you’ll definitely also enjoy the individual character trailers. They use the same 3D style that is present in the actual game. A lot of the music in them is even better than in these animated trailers. There are even game version trailers. The one that I definitely would recommend watching is the 2.0 trailer for the release of Penacony.

Mihoyo/Hoyoverse are a music and animation powerhouse but what they really excel at is pulling on your emotions. There's also a ridiculous amount of nuance in their animations that become very apparent after you've experienced the story of their respective games - as cool as they are on basic viewing, it's a whole different experience when you rewatch them with all the context.

Wonderful reaction and super interesting to hear your perspective as a fan of hoyoverse since many years. Id love to hear your thoughts on two of the genshin impact (their game before starrail and the game that made them well known internationally) animations: 1) the song burning in the embers (amazing story telling and character introduction within a short period of time!!) 2) the newly released (literally a day ago) animation "the road not taken" which was just incredible and explains the underlying story of genshin pretty well

The Honkai impact 3rd cinematics hit REALLY hard and have amazing soundtracks too I'd love it if u could check them all out but if i had to pick one I'd go for “ Ever lasting flames ” or “ Final lesson ”

Man if you are going to check out all the Honkai Impact 3rd Cinematics.... you are NOT ready for the Quality and the soundtrack of those cinematics buddy. Better prepare yourself for Peak Animated cinematic work and bring some tissues LOL They are S-Tier Art imo and hope you will watch them sometime soon

I love Jing Yuen's short, it's so good, I love both characters (Ignoring ice boy for that compliment; he's fine, but not a fav of mine), I also still can't believe they got Monarch (Amalee) to voice Jing Liu. Also it's really cool to see some of the in game abilities depicted in the anime art style. Have you done the Cinematic trailers too? They're really good. Also, Sparkle's cinematic is kind of part of a trilogy of cinematics they released, with her origin story, the cinematic trailer and then the one about her not being a "main character." Something else I think is interesting to note is how much they've improved in their cinematic trailers since launch, as they seem to get more and more masterful in their cinematography over time. Wonder if the people involved learned and got better, or if they acquired new talent specifically to make their trailers more impressionable.

Thanks for amazing video and detailed explanation, I had great time! Though animated shorts aren't everything in Honkai Star Rail - please react to some (preferably all) character trailers (from old to new) - especially Kafka and more new ones Black Swan, Sparkle, Acheron and just play the game - it's on par with some great movies in terms of story telling and character development! P.S. Just yday was special anniversary concert and also jazz fest for game music - it's something worth cheking as well

the game does unfortunately not look like this, it's very stylized but 3d it's actually a sci-fi game, but more in the sense of Star Wars where there are still magical elements sort of like the Force, as well as god-like beings and such

to explain the two least obvious trailers a little: Rondo was a bit of a bait and switch with the rather intimate tango section, but it makes the juxtaposition with the second half all the more impactful the narrating character, Black Swan, can read people's memories by getting close to them, so she used the dance invitation to do just that but got way more than she bargained for the Your Colour advert was indeed an in-universe ad played within a 3d trailer of the same name for Acheron, the second character in the Rondo animation

for the most part, yes, although in some cases the characters also use tech the in-universe explanation is that if someone aligns their own ideals very closely to one of the aforementioned godly beings', they can draw power from it e.g. Black Swan aligns with Fuli the Rmemebrance, hence memory abilities
