When Ashe elbows Bob and says "Bob! Do something!" That's actually what her ultimate ability is in the game. She summons him to the field and he attacks.

23:28 - Cassidy/McCree just said to Ashe, "You've never been one to shy away from a good tip," suggesting that he was the one that tipped off the Deadlock Gang (Ashe's group) to the potential heist. He likely tipped them off so he wouldn't have to do all of the work to acquire the crate or be the sole suspect (which would tie the action back to Overwatch instead of the Deadlock Gang).

@@kaizammit No problem, I enjoy your work. This is literally film school in a nutshell, and for free. Yes, I pay with my tme, but is it really payment if I enjoy it? On friday I am recording a music video so I decided to refresh what I already know with your tips today with a cup of coffee (I know, you're British and I didn't choose tea, I am sorry, I failed you), and you always manage to remind me of something I had forgotten about. This time I am going to make my video very soft and "cloudy", with gold + yellow + navy blue, metallic helium balloons. I got a few chemical glow sticks to throw into the smoke for some top-down shots as well. I know I know, I am rambling now haha. I just took this comment as an opportunity to share that image, since I don't really have anybody in my life who is a filmmaker, so I can't really geek out other than now, haha. I'm here again with some Lore: Cole Cassidy (formerly Jesse McCree) used to be part of Ashe's gang known as the deadlock gang. They were big enough outlaws that, before it fell, Overwatch went on a sting operation, taking Cole captive. He was offered the opportunity to either join their black-ops team (Darkwatch) or rot in prison for the rest of his life. He joined and when Overwatch fell, he went back to being an outlaw. When Winston sent the recall, Cassidy began looking for Echo. He saw an opportunity when Ashe began working on stealing stuff from the train. Cue cinematic He then goes off to create a new Overwatch force of people who weren't in the original OW. Also: Nothing ever happened between Cole and Ashe, but the writers have said that given more time something more could have developed out of their friendship.

I love that Overwatch has an overall style [the pixar-esque feel] but then the cinematics themselves still specifically have styles slanted toward the characters and the story, reflected in the music, camera angles, and lighting. I never noticed that the usual 'soft lighting' changed to emphasize the 'high noon' lighting to reflect the Western vibe. But it's a great example of how the style of the cinematic itself reflects the characters and the story. One small detail I always liked was around 4:19 when the shot changes to Ashe if you look closely at her face you can see her cheeky game-face smile slowly turn into a serious scowl, indicating not just the shift in her mood, but a shift in the tone of the narrative--it was funny and clever banter, but now the violence is about to start. It's a great representation of the character's mood as well as the tone of the narrative.

I always thoguht BAMF stands for Bad Ass Mothe... referencing Pulp Fiction. Also fun facts: - One of the bandits (that picks up the greandes) has a Sarah Kerrigan tattoo in his arm, referencing Starcraft. - High Noon is the name of the ultimate ability of the hero Mcree, even with the voice line "It's High Noon" - Ashe (the lady)'s ultimate ability is the Robot named Bob, calling him - like in this trailer - "Bob! Do something!" - "Say hi to the monkey for me" references Winston's cinematic, where Reaper called him Monkey, then Winston correcting him that he is a scientist. and could go on. Just some info from an old OW fan. :)

41:55 It’s implied but never confirmed. Only thing about them that is confirmed is that Cassidy/McCree was one of the founders of The Deadlock Gang along side Ashe and someone else. He left the gang after being arrested for illegal arms dealing and was given a choice between joining Blackwatch or going to jail. He chose Blackwatch over jail (obviously) but it became more than just avoiding the jail sentence. He believed the work they did was good and wanted to become a force for good. Until Overwatch was disbanded when Blackwatch was discovered. Blackwatch was a Black Ops division that was supposed to work in secret. Yes, at the end it was her bike he stole and she asks him about it in-game.

high noon doesn't necessarily mean the sun is truly directly over head, it just means its at its highest point in the sky. depending on the time of year and your longitude, the sun at high noon can be quite angled. I live in the US and even in the summer the sun never quite gets truly straight above, though I'm probably further north than where this takes place. even so the angle could still be due to time of year since this could be taking place at any point of the year Also that is Ashe's motorcycle, we see it sitting next to the cart that they were loading the crates onto before the fight. the tag is to tell us that its specifically Ashe's

2:03 Yep, Cole Cassidy actually
@lordmortarius538Ай бұрын
The character was renamed from Jesse McCree to Cole Cassidy, as the developer he was named after initially was fired for some very inappropriate conduct. I believe it was something to do with the "Cosby Room" they would nickname their hotel rooms at cons and other gatherings and such, very disgusting. This map is located in Arizona (canon sources put the Deadlock Gang's hideout in AZ), likely somewhere around Flagstaff, which Route 66 runs through and the nearby buttes between there and Sedona. The long shadows indicate it's probably somewhere around winter as at "high noon" the sun would still be angled due to axial tilt. In the summer it'd be closer to what you're thinking of. I lived in Tucson for 20 years so I know a thing or two haha. Cassidy was an outlaw, co-founding the Deadlock Gang with Ashe, until he got caught by Overwatch and given a choice: join Blackwatch (their clandestine black-ops division) or go to jail for a very long time. He chose the former, but grew disillusioned over time with the good he was doing due to the negative influences of Gabriel Reyes (Reaper) and Moira O'Deorain and eventually resigned when the whole Blackwatch debacle where it was revealed to the world happened and Overwatch ended up getting shut down. Ashe grew up in a wealthy family in Texas, heiress to Arbalest Arms and a fortune, attending private academies and such, while left in the care of B.O.B. a lot due to her parents being away on business frequently. She hated school and would cause trouble a lot, leading a few times to being locked up in the local jail, but she always had her parents' money to bail her out. When the Omnic Crisis began she was 13 and got angry because she was left alone again and yelled at BOB to go away and leave her alone, and he did. She waited for him to come back, but he didn't for four years, as he was under the control of the AI Anubis when she told him to leave. He fought in the Omnic Wars, and then gained sentience with the Awakening along with all the rest, so he came back home, where Ashe accepted him and they became lifelong companions. "Beginning to end, BOB, it's you and me". She was disinherited after getting into fights at her graduation, and went on to begin her life as an outlaw. Both Ashe and Cassidy are playable characters, and both are hitscan damage characters, meaning their projectiles have no travel time, you don't have to lead your target, they hit where you're aiming instantly. Cassidy is your typical gunfighter, he can do a quick roll to get out of danger, can 'fan the hammer' on his pistol (holding the trigger down and quickly pulling back on the hammer to rapid fire), and has a flashbang grenade to disorient enemies for a short time. His ultimate is called Deadeye, announced by his voice line "It's High Noon..." and any enemy in his field of view is slowly aimed in on, after a few seconds of unbroken vision he can one-shot them. Ashe is more of a Henry N. Brown type with her Winchester lever-action rifle, which she can aim down the sights to get a medium range zoom (less than a true sniper like Widowmaker), but she can fire off several shots in a row as the Winchester is a semi-auto, and her reload allows the player to put one bullet in at a time and can stop at any time if a good shot comes up. She has a coach gun, which is a sawed-off shotgun used by stagecoach drivers back in the old west, although hers is used primarily to knock enemies back, with a small knockback to herself to widen distance. She can chuck a roll of dynamite which blows after a few seconds and sets enemies on fire, or she can shoot it in the air to detonate it early. Her ultimate is B.O.B. (Big Omnic Butler), where she summons the big guy by yelling "BOB! DO SOMETHIN'!" and he leaps into action, charging where Ashe is facing and then shooting at nearby enemies, prioritizing targets Ashe is shooting.

Always so interesting to have your point of view on the cinematics. Some people are mentioning in your comments being sad that the cowboy's name is no longer Jesse McCree and is now Cole Cassidy but for context, there's nothing to be sad about. Cassidy used to be named after a Blizzard employee that turned out to be a s*x abuser, abusing his collegues, so they decided, rightfully so, to change the character's name so that people wouldn't be reminded about that man when they heard the character's name. However some people don't seem to understand the concept of name change/dead names and stay biggoted into using the old name, especially concidering whose name it was...
@diablotry5154Ай бұрын
That seems like an extremist pov to take. I just need to preface that I agree with the name change. There's three reasons. 1, McCree sounds cooler. 2. Nostalgia for people who played ow1. 3. People who don't know the context. Any of these three reasons are valid to varying extents and to call them all bigoted is stupid.
@CelineStilinskiАй бұрын
@@diablotry5154 Bigoted means being obstinately or unreasonably attached to something, that's why I choose that word. Because I humbly believe it's unreasonable be so attached to the old name. tldr : sorry for the paragraphS, can't shorten it I'm too much a talker XD For your first point, I wouldn't agree that "McCree" sounds cooler, honestly, I don't find anything cool in an abuser's name, in my own opinion. Also, I can't help to parallel it to people still calling trans people by their dead name. Would you do it? Many who use Cass' old name also do it purposefully, despite being reminded of the meaning behind it. In my own experience, those people tend to be men who stereotypically never had to grow up being scared of ever being s. abused and so don't understand the fear it can cause so they laugh it off. (I use stereotypically, because some have lived it but I think those person wouldn't use the name, personnally). I'm sorry, but as someone who lived with that fear and got harassed when I was younger, I get very vocal about it. Many often mention "it's just a name", to defend the use but isn't our name our whole identity? Don't we all get bothered when someone butcher our name or call us by the wrong one? Is a name, really just a name? However, there's nothing wrong with a slip of the tongue when you're in your screen, but many do it on purpose, that's where I have beef, I'll admit. 2nd point, Cassidy's name was changed during overwatch 1, three years ago. The real nostalgic of the old time, still played it then and they all seem accustomed to name change and accept it. Many who aren't started playing during OW2 or played like a week in OW1 are pretending they're long time player. For your 3rd point, people unawared of the context is something else, and when they're educated about it, usually they use the right name. And since they're not using the name purposefully, they don't fall in the category of bigoted I mentionned.

@nathankerr4219Ай бұрын
A he doesn’t have an ambiguous name, the name Cassidy is his last name, he just goes by that name because it’s easy to say Cassidy or Cass in the middle of a team fight than it is to say Cole Cassidy which is the reason he went by the name McCree in the first place and B the reason the name was changed is because the employee that the character was named after had sexually assaulted at least one of blizzard’s female employees, so blizzard change the name out of respect for the victim/victims (can’t remember how many allegations were against him).
