Nice engineering for quality and reliability, not for cost. I am really susprised that drivers are so far away from switching devices. I always tough driving inductance is a killer. But I know little about IGBT

I agree 100% on the placement of driver PCBs. It makes no sense to risk gate ringing with higher than necessary stray inductance. It could be that they switch so slowly, with a high gate resistance, that there is no problem with ringing and they can afford the power loss (maybe that is why it has such high surface temperatures) in the IGBTs from being driven too long in the linear region.

Just like software, hardware development should be done in iterations. Start off with the least possible functions and make it work. Then you start adding complexity. Many things today and solved entirely in simulation, I prefer experimentation :)

1200V rated IGBTs in the output H bridges. That's nice. It's not unusual to see only 600V parts in many HF inverters. Any idea of what the HV DC bus run at?

The DC link has two 450V capacitors in series, 6 strings in parallel. 900V at 4000'ish uF

If the unit works I would save it, that's an expesive and high quality unit that would drop the price of a solar installation by a lot. Curious to know where you are getting all those items too.

I have many plans, but not enough time. The Basement renovation is killing me :) I am still working optimizing the DRSSTC3 setup, so it does not take hours to set up. I also have been making drawings for a larger flightcase/truss setup which all fits nicely into a standard trailer. I also want to do some smaller coils with a more simple and open design in mind, for entry level for new builders of DRSSTC.

It's amazing how much board space you waste with high current traces when you stitch front and back, I often wonder whether a cable jumper solution would be better in some cases. I suppose that just adds to BOM costs.

When i see traces like that i think of heat dissipation calculations and i assume there were decisions made to space the devices out. But this is just my thought

Sticking with PCB tracks and vias will keep the stray inductance as low as possible.

Adhere to electrical safety and use professional help on mains connected inverters! Check fuses. Check panel output voltages. Check inverter log, like usb/serial interface or computer connection?

Yes. Its stuff that others have trashed. That is also why it often looks a little rough on the outside, from not so nice handling in containers and by cranes.

If you see my other videos, high voltage is not a problem :) My teardown equipment is all from scrap yards and have been thrown out. Usually for good reasons, often just because its too old, but then have taken damage from being thrown out.

Chinese Deye Inverters will blow your mind. The construction quality is on par with the one in this video. Their Hybrid inverter has 48V Batteries output , Generator input and much more!

Almost all electronics comes out of China/Asia. As with everything else, you get what you pay for. If you buy the cheapest, expect it to be cheaply made.

Cheap Ones like MPP Solar will only last 5 Years. High quality, fully certified Grid inverters from Solis or Hauwei often come with 20Years warranty

@@flipschwipp6572 I forget to mention. Actually i won't use it with solar panel but with car battery or cell pack(li-ion or similar) Maybe it will last long in this circumstances?
