First time seeing inside a SMX, and i'm surprised they ditched the auto-transformer for a line-interactive UPS. There must be some clever buck/boost circuit to control the voltage.

If I had an industrial xray machine, we could explore the 4 layer board, but its just too much to reverse engineer with a multimeter.

6:43 one thing I've noticed with apc transformer is that it doubles as a autotransformer for brown out and over voltage. It will either bypass the transformer or if Vin is less than like 100 or higher than 130.... It will switch from bypassing the transformer to using high side to bring 130 down to 115 or 100 up to 115...(pulled numbers out of my ass this) Although this one looks more like a fully solid state design...

Are the magnetics in this one larger than those with autotransformers? Maybe they use them with additional windings, so chokes can double as autotransformer?

I've got a sua3000rm2u that I ended up replacing the internal battery with 18Ah instead of the 2x7Ah in parallel/series
@KaizerPowerElectronicsDk2 ай бұрын
So you did not have the external battery bank? But it makes sense to replace those regular small SLA batteries, if you want some longer backup time.

4:45 it's only an ISA slot in terms of connector or it it even speaking the the ISA-bus there? did you look at pin30 if there is clock oscillator?... o.k. it's not an ISA-slot, it's missing 2 pin.
@KaizerPowerElectronicsDk2 ай бұрын
I should have said ISA-style shouldn't I? ;)

@@KaizerPowerElectronicsDk PCB edge connectors. ISA/IBM-PC was late to that game.

Thanks, that is what I get for growing up with seeing them first thing as ISA slots, a brand name becomes the common name, in my head, for that connector :) Like googling something, not searching.

@@KaizerPowerElectronicsDk with 60 pins (instead of 62) the slot really looks like ISA. But if it comes to those connectors, for me S-100 (or "Altair 8800 bus") comes to my mind, with 100 pins off course, as the name implies. nevertheless, even before there will have been systems with pcb edge connectors with this classic 2.54mm pitch.
