Nick Beggs IS an amazing Musician! Just look what he's doing these days and that will show how incredible he is!

In those ancient days, the folks hardly realized (probably because of all the Teenie-Hype around the band) that Nick Beggs is an ingenious musician and especially the second album "Islands" was a brilliant piece of pop music even with mild Funk and Jazz influences! That's the huge difference to Teenie Bands nowadays: Kajagoogoo were true musicians, they had substance, and they left something to last.

Zespół ponadczasowy. Zacząłem słuchać w 1983, teraz mam 52 lata i nadal uwielbiam. Praca na instrumentach niesamowita. Tutaj dodali trąbkę i saksofon i miodzio. 👍

1000% agreed..nick beggs is a hell of a bass player..listen to how melodic this bass line is in the chrous..and then he plays the funky breaks AND still sings...i was a little kid when kajagoogoo came out but i recall my friends who played bass saying "holly shit this guy can play" that brought a spectrum of fans to them they probably would have never had..DUran duran jajagoogoo and ABC are very impriotant to me musically D

Completely forgot this one, must admit they are very underrated, hard to believe this talent came from Leighton Buzzard!

"The Lion's Mouth" was the first record I bought in early '84 when I was 11. For decades I would never been listening to Kajagoogoo again, thinking they were just ancient teen pop until I bought "Islands" in a 2nd hand record shop a few weeks ago. Only now I recognize how good they were musically and how bad all the boybands of the 90s and 00s were. I mean Kaja, Duran, Spandau and all the others were real musicians, whereas Nsync, Take That and BSB were cheap crap and puppets on a string.

Yeah, even in the song "Too Shy" can be heard clearly had a funky start. The 3rd album from the band is also very good but it is much more rock unlike previous albums.
@luisalonsoecheverria6 жыл бұрын
The funkiness of "Too Shy" can pretty much be attributed to Nick Beggs slap bass!!

Yeah, Kajagoogoo never got the recognition as a four-piece that they deserved, they were all top musicians. FACT. This is great English funk, up there with Freeez, Beggar & Co, Shriekback ( my spine is the bassline ), Central Line and some of Spandau Ballets better work. 👍🏻

See this is why not being good at English is weird for me. So here you have a 28 year german man being baffled over the phrase Big Apple. Whereas i being a 16 year old dane was never confused over what that song was about from day one.. Although being from England myself, i quickly knew that if i wanted to get English like a brit i would have to improve my English in a way most danes dont. I was about 4 when coming to Denmark and was doing everything in danish by the time i hit primary school. But hearing how awful my English teacher spoke English i just went.. Nope, we're not ending like that. So i started living as English as I could and mived back and stayed for 6 years in the 90's. You cant walk about not being a master of English. It's the most beautiful language out there, so you must make an effort yourself. Don't put your trust in the teachers that's for sure.. I did the same thing with german too. If im gonna speak it, im gonna do it right. 🤓
@admiralackbar93079 жыл бұрын
I like the way the interviewer doesn't even know the meaning that 'Big Apple' is a reference to New York! Well the band are hardly going to be righting a song about a big Addams apple are they? :[
@electroborg7 жыл бұрын
This can be explained by the fact that the average german viewer in the 80s reasoned in units of beer and sausage, did not even know what an apple was.
sounded good was didn't have it as a frontman, should have got another front man in, owen paul would have fitted in.
