I feel like towards the end of their relationship Aki sort of fell out of love with Ugetsu, and was in love with Haru without actually realizing it. Like that scene when Ugetsu looks at Haru and is like- oh so you’re the one that’s been in Akihiko’s heart. Aki genuinely fell in love with Haru after he realized how Haru was always there for him and loved him back. But like, he also realized that Haru deserved more (Haru deserves the world, actually. Such a sweet angel must protecc) so he changed his negative habits to become the man that Haru deserves (ch 28 ahhhh). Anyways, love how Given beautifully shows portrays how to move on from hurtful things and find a genuine and lasting love, in both the relationships between Mafuyu/Uenoyama and Haruki/Akihiko.

I don’t think it was just jealousy. I think it’s like when you see something you perceive as “holy,” you feel both incredibly envious and incredibly attracted. I’m sure it was a bunch of different complicated feelings he had. Ugh, this whole dynamic was written so powerfully. I’m in love with these two. No matter how tragic their eventual end, their story truly stirred my emotions and they have a special place in my heart.

I love twisted and dark stories and this is by far one of the best and realistic representation of a toxic relationship. When you both know that you’re hurting each other but the attraction is too strong. The emotional rollercoaster in a toxic relationship is what makes it harder to leave. Y’all dependent on each other. The high and low makes it feel all exciting and intense at first but in the long run, it’s actually emotionally damaging.

It's like being enclosed within something trapping you, but within it, you feel safe and in love in your own little bubble of attraction, and it's easier to ignore you're slowly being suffocated from the outside. Pain. This relationship is pain, and I'm so glad they got out of it, despite their beautiful unique bond to one another. It's so difficult, and it was depicted so realistically. Hope they're both feeling happier and lighter since then. ❤

I relate to Ugetsu a lot. I'm one of those "gifted kids" as well and my emotions are so overwhelming for me that I can't really grow close with anyone. I just try to bury my feelings as much as I can because I want to look like someone who doesn't have this problem, but it's like putting dry ice in a plastic bottle. Letting them out in a healthy way is a huge challenge, but music and art help a lot tbh. Something I've also noticed is how I break down the walls others have built up around them or changing them just by being myself. I know I'm extremely sensitive, but I wouldn't have myself any other way: I notice a lot more of the things around me and I'm proud of my empathy. Obviously it's hard sometimes, but it's just something I have to deal with.
