This video is a near-perfect simulation of what it was like growing up in late 80's/early 90's America.

Yep. I was practicing Kajukenbo in 1991. I miss it. I kept moving around and could never another school or teacher nearby. So I pursued Shotokan.

It's hard to find Kajukenbo done with this degree of excellence power, speed and accuracy even today on the web. Master Forbach truly is a superior practitioner.

I like Master Forbach's ridge hand technique. The first time that I've seen it used in a self defense situation. And I also like the low blocks when countered the low kick.

To make blue we had to ba able to do the breakfalls with our eyes colsed after doing 60 pushups and plank for six minutes all on the knuckles. They would exhaust every aspect of you physically and mentally on tests. Forms needed to snap loud kias. Then you needed to think on your feet and demonstrate clean techniques with control. My mother art in my heart.

Never understood the use of the Chinese language used for teacher…Sifu? I began my journey with Kajukenbo in 1984. We originally used the Japanese word Sensei. Which made sense, since the fighting art is mostly Japanese in origin.

Looks like master Forbach requires a mullet to receive a black belt. Definitely just kidding around. We are all lucky for ppl like Master Forbach who helped spread our art world wide.

Lol. If you think Kajukenbo or Bushido is bullshiiit you don't understand martial arts. The best fighters in the world train Kajukenbo or modern variations where we include mma and bjj. Also Bushido is an honor code about being a good person. The essence of martial arts. Also this video is from the 90s and are simply basics. We include creative follow ups of boxing combos and judo throws. Very effective in the street and ring.

@@jasoncaine7829 Those basics are karate/taekwondo/kempo basics by far (defenses, stances, etc), which are bullshido martial arts by themselves, i know this because i have practiced both a lot over many years, I am 2 dan Taekwondo blackbelt, and karate brown belt, they are bullshido, when you take them directly to a combat sparring, they have many limitations specially with boxing, this is why you tell me you have to do some cross over techniques with boxing, judo, jiujitsu, wrestling, because it makes the martial arts work as a combat applicable system, which we have done too in our gym to make taekwondo more oriented to general combat and not only olympic combat. We have been trying to make it like Kudo/MMA when it comes to combat.

@@jasoncaine7829best fighters in the world are the people who fight for a living at the very top of the competition pool. So basically the people in UFC, belator ect ect. I don't know of a single professional fighter who uses "kajukenbo" as their base. And if you try to feed me that bs about MMA being a sport, I'm not going to respond.

@@chrisortiz8077 I've never trained Kajukenbo myself as it's not available in my country., though if it was, I'd certainly give it a go! Watched a lot of videos and read a lot about it so I'm about as familiar as I can be without ever having taken a class. I currently cross train Muay Thai and Krav Maga and have tried other traditional martial arts and some combat sports in the past (though will concede I'm not an expert in the latter) but happy to have to discussion with you. Always happy to share experiences and ideas with other martial artists, particularly ones with a different style or motivation for training than me.
