WHERE IS NEPHI FROM?
I am Nephi Acaling. I am native to Bacolod City in the Philippines but I have been moving and living in different countries due to the nature of my work. I’ve lived in countries like Singapore, Japan and the US due to job assignments. I was in the US when I started this channel but I am currently in Indonesia thus the confusion to some where I am truly based.
MUSICAL BACKGROUND
Former band vocalist of Akita performing at K-Pub in Ayala Cebu, Philippines (2019-2020)
Former band vocalist of Big Three Band performing in Yokohama 7, Yokohama, Japan (2014-2016).
Former member of the Filipino Voice Symphony (2010-2011) where I was taught by professional chorale singers (e.g. former soprano from UP Madrigal Singers). Our singing group actually bagged the Gold Medal in the International A cappella Championships held in Singapore in 2011.
Former university choir and singing trainer in Technological University of the Philippines Visayas.
WHAT IS THE GREATER GOAL?
My mission is to promote music among different regions and try to make people from different countries relate to each other through music and singing. I have always believed that even small gestures in understanding similarities and differences towards others actually lead to greater awareness about countries and their people.
In this modern world full of things that divide humanity, it is but perfect to put efforts in re-uniting and building bridges among all of us.

Gila talks about mental health. It combines contemporary music with Malay traditional style. You should watch the official music video. It's beautifully done and it has Eng subs so you can understand it better. And yes Kaka is the niece of Ella so thats probably where she got that rock quality in her voice 😁

for me, what’s interesting about this performance is Kaka’s voice really portrays the word ‘Gila’(crazy) Her variation of expressions throughout the performance also helped in enhancing the meaning of this song. Then, there are also the lyrics for both rappers, it’s really deep connected to current pandemic situation when people stuck at home at it cause some people to be ‘Gila’(crazy) in their own thought. well deserved AJl winner!
