I mean at least deflecting Requiem makes sense, it's literally just a regular giant beam cannon. Positron cannons are firing literal anitmatter beams at things, you literally should not be able to block that with a physical defense system and not have a consequence. The reason the positron reflectors worked was well they literally used positrons to form the shield, so when the positron cannon's beam hits it, nothing is physically there to go cause a reaction and it diffuses the beam. The Akatsuki can just block positrons...because why not?

Strike Rouge was not built out of spare parts from the Archangel. Orb is capable of producing Strike parts themselves after examining the Strike. Which is re-confirmed by the Seed movie.

You're right in that the high attrition rates the mass production M1 Astrays suffer (though that's true for most mass production MS) makes the option of making more Akatsuki units appealing even considering their high manufacturing costs, it would be worthwhile in terms of cost effectiveness and pilot survival rates. At the very least, ORB should consider making a second Akatsuki unit so that Cagalli and anyone she lends it to can use the Akatsukis at the same time, instead of making one of them sit on the sidelines.

Or just make another Akatsuki without the Yata No Kagami and use it as a Testbed unit like how they'd probably do it in the Universal Century. For every really smart idea that Cosmic Era Factions have there's like three really stupid oversights mixed in. I never thought I'd be saying this but even the Titans used their budget better than Orb did. For the cost of one Akatsuki with the damn coating, you could have had at least 3 more as Testbed units and eventually limited run Ace Units. That way you could have had a squad of limited Run Akatsuki's in Gray led by the Golden Beam Immune one. Give the Gray one that's painted Red to Cagalli, instead of having her use the Years old Strike Rouge way past its due date and then have Mu kicking ass with the Gold one. With some cost cutting measures they could've had a ton of really strong Commander or Ace Units instead of one abhorrently expensive Unit that gets screwed over by Beams not being as widespread as the Universal Century.

Its even harder post war, as ORB have to rebuild and restable themselves afterall so kinda explain why they can only make one at the time. I didn't really like Gundam Seed very much, but I did really like this MS. The constant need to worry about power, combined with the packs for different missions, gave it a very grounded feel. It was a very good way of going about making a super-mech, and I cheered when they plugged it into the Archangel to power it's gun.

You know what's funny, the archangel had multiple of those Angi beam cannons in storage. Why the heck didn't they just mount them to the hull and plug them in and use them as additional beam cannon turrets when the Strike wasn't using them, like the Eternal does with the Meteor units?

I just started watching this series and the one thing that people are not discussing is how competent Morgenröte is, which shows how Orb truly is one heck of technological powerhouse. They feel like the a better and much more competent Anaheim in the CE timeline lol. No wonder the Earth Alliance really wanted them to join even by force, though in the worst-case scenario, RIP if Blue Cosmos/Logos were able to get hold of them.

The strike has such a strong influence that you can even feel it throughout the gundam multi verse. For God's sakes the main character in the first build fighters literally built like his main machine off of the strike and then he kept upgrading the damn thing. Not to mention even sunrise themselves knows the strike is iconic which is why we keep getting so many different versions of it and so many different model kits of it throughout the years. It does get rather annoying and repetitive a lot of the time when you're waiting for a brand new model kit to come out only for them to fart out another strike kit but at least it has a cool striker change system. Although this may be my Zoids bias kicking but I think the Liger Zero did the armor change system better then the strike did because at least with Liger, we saw nearly all three of its armors but meanwhile the strike mainly just used the Alie a lot of times and SOMETIMES the launcher and sword. But despite this, great look into the strike Kararot!

Thanks for this. The seed series is by far my favorite. And the strike is my favorite. Many will argue that the seed is just a copy of the OG gundam with the story of the rx78. But it made it more appealing to the generation. And thanks to it new generations of gundam fans where created. I was born and "awed" by wing series, but now its the seed. In my school vr game, the Strike Gundam had an in-game ONLY striker pack, the omega pack (a striker pack based on Omega from megaman zero, this dreadnought system is designed to make the Strike be on par with its name sake, it has a Anti ship Beam saber, 2 Arm mounted mega particular cannons and finally APIS or Advance Pale Interfacing System, a AI that can take over enemies and turn them into a ally) but theres a problem. The phase shift armour is gold which thanks to a data fragment of the Dark Elf its unstoppable. Its real problem is that Stella of ZAFT managed to copy its data and found its akelies heal which weapons with High impact like Dainslefts can break through it. Ultimately this unit was the unit that Kira Yamato used in his strike which both him and the Strike had been killed by a Pile bunker

In the case of the Shiranui Akatsuki mostly using the main beam cannons for offense, it could be a result of reusing animation form other mobile suits with DRAGOONs that only had one beam cannon. (For example, it was reused from the Strike Freedom.)

Great video!! After you eventually di the skygrasper and other CE Strike variants, it might also be a cool idea to also do a video or segment on the build strike at some point in the future as well where you could go over/speculate which CE mobile suits inspired its design. I feel silly admitting this, but only now after watching your video did I notice that the backpack on the build strike full package seems to have directly come from or at least was heavily inspired by the Akatsuki's Oowashi striker pack

What confuses me about the rouge is the whole power extender. Whenever Cagalli pilots it, it's the pink. But the second Kira gets in it, it reverts to the original strike colors. I assume that is just plot thingy but wouldn't it make sense then that the phase shift is just color choices by the devs or pilots? This goes in hand with duel, buster, blitz, aegis all being blue, green, black, and red. And so those would be the pre installed color choices of the phase shift and Cagalli would be the only one who changed it only for Kira to get in and just undo her settings.

In that very episode, Kira explicitly tell the maintenance crew to load his old Strike settings and software into the Rouge. So the Rouge's PS armor setting would be the same as the old Strike's.

@@b9llb9ka15 I mean the only reason that was it's OS at debut was because they were stolen. The machines weren't done, they were getting ready to leave the factory and go to specialized pilots and facilities to fine tune them when ZAFT rolled up and stole four of them. Part of the big deal with Kira piloting the Strike early on was the actual pilots for the G Weapons were killed by ZAFT as well. So the surviving crew was literally like "Well, we can let the co-ordinator pilot it, or leave it in the hangar." Eventually the alliance did make an OS that anyone could use, which they did after getting their hands on the combat data from the Strike from the Archangel. If Zaft hadn't stolen the four Gundams and blown up the factory and the pilots, they probably would have been a big problem to Zaft. Especially since Zaft used the tech from the G Weapons to perfect its own beam weaponry. So yeah if Zaft hadn't stolen those machines, they'd be fully operational, being piloted with trained pilots, and Zaft wouldn't have half the tech they had which also means no Freedom, Justice, Providence, or any of the other toys that they used tech from the G weapons to create. Zaft would have been in BIG trouble. Especially since if Zaft had no mobile suit compatible reliable/finished beam weapons, they alliance just needs to suck up the cost and put PSA on every machine, mobile armour, and ship, and now Zaft is fighting a force they literally can't damage with their own MS units.

To say that the Strike Gundam was the most influential MS in the Cosmic Era is an understatement. Not only did it influence the Astray units and had MP versions in the form of the Daggers, ZAFT would also copy the Striker packs and create the Wizard packs for their future MS like the GOUF Ignited and the ZAKU Warrior not to mention the Silhouette Packs and the Impulse Gundam itself.

Okay, so if we ignore how the point was to have a different swappable payload for each problem and are really committed to combining the functionality (and mass) of the 3 original striker packs, I have thoughts. First, these will be hard integrated with a base Gundam, removing redundant paneling and the like. We're trying to pack on all of the toys, or at least as many as possible, so it no longer makes sense to use them as modular swappable add-ons. With that said, the Aile Strike parts will be the core of the alterations to offset all the other mass this lunacy calls for. Make sure all the default backpack thrusters are relocated to contribute if otherwise blocked. Then take the shoulders of the launcher pack and full arm cowling of the sword pack. Again, remove as much superfluous weight as possible when integrating them. Finally, the Sword and 320MM will be optional extra weapons, with ONLY one available at a time. Strap a pair of detachable battery packs to the 320mm. Otherwise the usual weapons package and aforementioned new additions will have to suffice with their meager shield grapple, 57mm beam rifles, quad mag bazooka, throwing knives, 120mm short rotary, CIWS, twin missiles, and beam boomerang. Indeed, the pilot will be encouraged to use the magazine fed launcher over the 320MM Oh, and repaint the parts so they actually match and have a unified color scheme instead of being a colossal eye sore.

Unlike the four sister units, the Strike Gundam was an oddest choice, lightly armed and underpowered reminds something like the US Navy's Spruance-class destroyer built in the 1970's for anti-submarine warfare carrying only two 4 inch guns and an ASROC launcher. but it's no big deal! it can receive modular upgrades such as VLS (Vertical Launching System), Phalanx CIWS (Close-In Weapons System) and so much more. The Strike meanwhile can do just that, thanks to it's Striker packs modular weapons loadout system carried aboard the Archangel.

That's pretty much what it was testing out. Notice early on all the alliance's forces are single purpose machines, then they get modular parts and equipment later on when they start the Dagger lines from the Strike's data. Each of the original five G weapons was meant to be a test bed for something. The Duel was the base frame for the other four mobile suits, the alliance literally had no MS frame at ALL when they started the project. The Buster Gundam was for developing long range weaponry. The Blitz (X200 frames) was for developing specialized units, in this case with stealth systems. The Aegis (X300 frames) was for developing transformable units, as humanoid units are not always the best for a situation. And the Strike was for developing and testing different modular weapons that could be used by other units via Striker packs.

With SEED being the first Gundam series I watched, the Strike is naturally high on my list of favourites. It was even my second Gunpla (MG Aile), kicking off my collection of the 5 G-Weapons. Unfortunately, the MG Sword/Launcher Strike remains on back order for the past few years, and I'm starting to believe I'll never get to display it in it's Perfect Strike form. I wonder if future videos of the Strike Development History would include the various pack systems in C.E.? The Wizard packs of the Zaku line and the Impulse is obviously based on the Strike. Then again, the Daggers were based on the Strike and got their own video...

Being mulit-purpose works for the Strike because you always want a unit that can theoretically deal with any combat situation alongside units made for specific circumstances. Thus it also being the bedrock of many other suits serves it well since if it excels at being multi-purpose it's possible to enhance that role with better upgrades.

Do correct me if I’m mistaken: with the improvements on battery power and performance, Strike Rouge is considered to be the testbed unit for the Variable Phase Shift Armor System And as for the Ootori Striker- it would be safe to assume that- it is SEED Destiny HD Remastered’s attempt to give Strike Rouge further relevance in the show- both as a Gunpla, and as a support unit that combines Justice’s Flight Capabilities and Strike & Freedom’s weapons

From a military perspective, the Strike was superior. Packs could be customized for each mission. And it would it would allow for packs to be upgraded as technology improves and changes. and, as mentioned, allowing the packs to be swapped out in combat to increase the sortie time.

13:05 correction: While the Sahakus were "allied" with the Earth Alliance, this was mostly due to the late patriarch's ideal of "Orb ascendancy", and is just them making connections "Lord of War"-style, ensuring that Orb comes out on top at the end of the war. In fact, they are fully aware of Blue Cosmos basically running the show in the Atlantic Federation, and are just using them to gain an advantage. Hell, even up till his death, Azrael had NO idea that the Sahakus were just toying with him, being all chummy and friendly with a pair of COORDINATORS. So far, the only known ACTUAL pro-Blue Cosmos Alliance members in Orb are mostly from the lower nobility, prominent amongst them is the Seiran Family. Many of the surviving upper nobility heirs are almost principally Neutral(the Athhas(Cagalli), the Kiohs(see: Gundam Seed Eclipse), and later, post-war, the Sahakus), or at the very least, willing to engage in discussions with both factions.

29:34 12.5mm is hideously underpowered for a mobile suit's head vulcan. That's barely .50 caliber.

It most likely uses very high energy propellant. Zaft develooed 37mm hyoervelocity rounds and used them on the Ginm Ocher's rifle, and the even smaller 27mm rounds tested on the High Manuever type's rifle. Alliamce also had a few hypervelocity projectile weapons. No reason Orb couldnt also made this kind of small caliber but extremely high velocity bullets.

The Strike is definitely my second fave of all the Gundams across all universes, beaten only by the Grandaddy and its variants. Its modular approach was definitely one of its best aspects and it has a still reasonably bulky appearance which I much prefer compared to much sleeker designs from 00, IBO, and WfM (don't get me wrong, I also have favorites in each series). Also, man, Kira nailed that Ootori fight in Destiny that I honestly wished he kept the Rouge Ootori instead of going SF.

Extra reminder: While it's just my strange ideology on how to recharge other machines, the back half of the Lightning Striker's rail cannon could be used as either a beam rifle with low enough power, or as a resupply cord to charge up its allies.

I thought the Cosmograsper's Aile Striker was meant for use by MP Striker suits, which all already had beam sabers, 105 Dagger, Dagger L, and Windam didn't need any pack-mounted sabers, so having sabers on the Cosmograsper Aile wouldn't really accomplish anything

I mean Requiem makes more sense than the positron cannon. Requiem is literally just a giant beam cannon, which the Akatsuki was literally designed to deflect. The positron beam should have literally started to disintegrate the Akatsuki like it did the Strike, as the Akatsuki's armor that deflects beams is still made up of solid matter. The reason the positron reflectors worked is because they were energy shields, also made up of positrons, so there was nothing for the positron beam to disintegrate and as long as you could pump enough power into the reflector to eat the incoming energy from the beam it would block it completely. Like literally, ORB fires TWLEVE positron cannons at the shield over Requiem in DESTINY, and all that happens to Requiem and the surrounding area is the electrical charge from the beams and the shield has to dissipate for a bit. No way in hell the Akatsuki should be able to block a positron beam with a physical armor system. I think they just wanted to re-enact they scene from SEED and made the Akatsuki able to tank it with tis physical defenses because "why not". Mu literally could have just blocked it with one of the energy shields, or better yet since he had so much time to get in front of the shot without needing to wanything else shooting him back, maybe shoot the Minerva's cannon with either the beam rifle or one of the DRAGOONs BEFORE it fired it? Sorry that scene makes no sense based on in universe lore even and bugs me. As I said I think they just wanted to remake the SEED scene and have it work this time for fan service.
