I think the idea was that Kabuto noticed kakashi coming in and set up a contingency plan. He likely went in and took care of the anbu as himself. Probably used a transformation jutsu afterwards to look like an anbu

This is a very underrated sequence since up to this point Kabuto’s capabilities wasn’t really known. Him being able to outsmart Kakashi really set him to be a real threat by the time he was facing off against Tsunade.

For me, it was the pinnacle of _Naruto_ in terms of suspense and storytelling. The atmosphere, especially when they're in the forest being chased by the Sound ninjas and Orochimaru, the music, the chara design and the animation. It all makes me nostalgic and I rewatch these episodes with great pleasure. The whole arc of the Chuunin exam followed by Sasuke's rescue were the highlights of my _Naruto_ experience. After that, there are still highlights like Shikamaru's revenge arc, but it felt less like a ninja anime and more like _Dragon Ball._

OG Naruto is an extremely underrated anime tbh. The level of suspense, creepy atmosphere, art direction were all top notch. The political intrigue, mystery, camping, exploring and military spy vibes; the mix of all of it, was nothing short of brilliant! The battles were great.. balanced and grounded with some of the best power systems I have seen in all of shonens.

Kabuto is my favourite Naruto character and this is my favourite scene of him. I loved how he was able to go toe to toe with Kakashi and was even one step ahead of him. He deserved more screentime in Shippuden.

Kabuto knew his place 1:19. Kakashi didn’t even have to uncover his Sharingan to have Kabuto believing he could arrested him. Luckily for him, he staged a pre-planned strategy before Kakashi arrived that allowed his escape.

Yet if he wasn’t nerfed, he would one-shot an off-guard Pain with Lightning blade like he did Kakuzu instead of grabbing his chakra receiver (chapter 420, page 4). Kishimoto clearly wanted Naruto to defeat Pain, else Kakashi would’ve in seconds.

This is no different from us creating nuclear bombs with basic physical things in comparison to actual strong spirits that look at our nukes like mini grenades. Those eyes and powers aren't magic. It's Jutsu, Genetics and Cultivation which are different ways to use energy through chakras. There's even proof of this in real life which was confirmed by the CIA in 2020 when they were forced to release documents to the public by the government. You want magic? look at things like real life voodoo, Black Clover, Magi, Moses and other content/evidence that can teach you about that. Don't get it confused with people like Naruto, Chen Beixuan, and others that use Cultivation or Jutsus because that's two completely different methods. Also ninjas are totally more than just weapons and smoke bombs so you might want to do more research on that

This scene was the first I ever saw from Naruto. My best friend showed it to me and it got me really excited to watch the show. I was 15 back then and its been 18 years ago now (yet it still feels like today).
