We had afternoon tea at the Dome a few weeks ago - it was fabulous!!! We absolutely loved everything and the whole experience was just so fun! My husband wanted to do it again! I’d like to try afternoon tea at the Balmoral next time, although I would definitely go back to the Dome again. The library you visited for tea looks so gorgeous too! Thanks for the video!

Signet library is a stunning place worked there a few times and still work for the same company Head Chef Aung is a fantastic guy and an even better Chef and the manager Franz is also a lovely man

I had Afternoon Tea at the Holyrood palace Café with my mom. Everything was really deliciuos and with 21£ (without Champagne) or 30 £ (with ch.) it is a reasonable price. you'll sit away from the Café guests, get a quick introduction and tea explanation. It is always nice idea - especially on rainy days. But I must say: the Signet Library is gorgeous! (And a lovely place for a wedding...)

That sounds lovely! I always like the little garden seating they have there, although I guess the sunny days on which that sort of seating is afternoon tea friendly are limited 😬 glad to hear you enjoyed your time there!

The place has a really nice quiet vibe, admittedly we booked for relatively early in the day (11 I believe) and pretty much had the whole place to ourselves! Felt super exclusive that way!

Oh yes!! I thought you might be off to the colonnades. I’ve been singing their praise since I went last October. Totally worth it even for those of us on a budget … I still haven’t had a better tea anywhere in the country. Your little happy food dance is exactly how I felt when those flavors hit. Just got back from Edinburgh (2 years after this video was posted) and wanted to add a few budget choices. For a super-basic experience, M&S Simply Food offers afternoon tea in their café for £12.50 per person starting at 3 pm. It's a good choice if it's raining outside and you're tired from walking 20,000 steps that day as we were. It's decent, but nothing to go Instagram gaga over (not that I use Instagram). For a much nicer atmosphere, The Ivy, which overlooks St. Andrews Square, is £33.50 per person from 3-5 pm, BUT (secret unlocked) you can just opt for a cream tea from 11:30 - 5pm for £10.50 per person, or £20.50 if you want to add sparkling wine. I'm not big on soft, crustless sandwiches, so this was a good choice for my tastes.

Modern day Princes Street, boarded up or empty shops. Sad. The Signet library afternoon tea is probably the pinnacle of Edinburgh eating. Such class, such variety. Wish they would leave a wee card as I never remember what everything is. Tempted to try the Caley or Balmoral but their menus look more limited.

Strange question... but is there anywhere in the city which you can chill in when its raining? As in something like a work space or a lobby which you can sit in?

I think the free museums might be good for that - national museum especially is large and has a plenty of seating options. Galleries, too - all of them are usually free to enter and nobody would have a problem with you just popping in to chill! For a longer sit down I like to visit hotel lobbies, there's an app called Swurf which collates local hotels that are totally ok with you coming in for a coffee and a couple of hours of work!

The central library on George IV bridge used to be good but it's been a while and I have a bad feeling it's been turned into a hotel. If not, I'd recommend it.

Hello I was just in Edinburgh for the first time ever I loved it, if I may say it’s a bucket list city . Thank you Kati your videos helped me out very much. Just one thing that seemed strange for me was the hours the businesses keep, be sure to check before you go anywhere what their closing time is it could vary from 2 pm or 5 pm or 7 or 9 pm etc.

Clarinda's Tearoom is a wonderful place for Afternoon Tea. It's at the bottom of the Royal Mile, very cozy and the tea and food are amazing.

for me the best afternoon tea is at Prestonfield Hotel. Everything has a very unique flavour but still feels as a traditional afternoon tea. highly recommended!

Although I like modern tastes, I would prefer a traditional afternoon tea, just crustless sandwiches, scones and traditional cakes. Wasabi and hoisin duck wraps just don’t work for me in that setting. Not sure why really. I once got a dairy free afternoon tea in the Sheraton and it was so disappointing. But afternoon tea should be real cream and cheese and butter, etc.

There used to be, but these days it's hard to find - prices went up a lot in the last two years and it will likely only continue. I'd recommend looking at sites like Itison and look for a voucher!

The cheapie tea sounds like a great place for people to meet for a "gab and chew" - not especially special but a bit more refined than grabbing a burger, nice enough for the lower cost, perfectly acceptable. (Also - AND THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION - I should note that I found the video's music too horrid and annoying to sit through so I ended up having to fast-forward through a lot. It sounded like it was recorded onto warped vhs tapes and was recorded from there onto warped cds - not a good sound. Again this is ONLY my opinion so ignore at will.)

It's fantastic that you make these kind of videos, but O-M-G... 60 quid is too much for "a tea". I can have dinner in a Michelin starred restaurant in my area with (more or less) that.
