All I can say is WOW! Those stationery stores are amazing. And I totally get the "ink swamp." My favorite thing to do lately is take an ink sample and test it in as many size nibs as possible. I'm thinking that I "need" a really cool glass dip pen.

Thanks for the tour. Looks like amazing stores. I use the Kakimori nib pen for swatching inks or temporary use of my inks, instead of a glass pen.

Your voice is really soothing after a super long stressful day. Thank you! Kakimori and Ink stand have been on my list of places to visit when I can finally visit Japan and this makes me want to pack up right now and head out as soon as possible. XD Soon, hopefully! Also that glass pen is absolutely beautiful. The mineral at the end got me wanting to get one like it! Aaah, I'm not one for eating any kind of sugar, as I don't like chocolate, and many candies with red dyes give me migraines but my weakness is soda (coke), and I'm trying to cut back so I know that feeling of staring at it so hard. We can do this!

For ink testing, the line from dip pens sometimes look a little different than from a fountain pen. That's why we all have a $100 pile of Preppies in the corner of our desks, waiting to be cleaned.
@InkyRocks4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! It lays down a heavier line (not necessarily a thicker one but a more concentrated one). But I think many of the young ladies who use glass pens also use them to write letters etc. I'm not sure I want to go down that rabbit hole!
@jcparkins4 жыл бұрын
I continue to be amazed at the availability of pens and ink over there! Those stationery stores are so cool. I'm looking forward to your review of the rollerball you bought, those are few and far between over here, even through Goulet Pens and places like that. I can't believe I had a glass pen before you did. Not that I use it much, but I've had one for about a year and it is fun to write with. That's another review I'm looking forward to, yours is gorgeous.

I love seeing your videos in the shops and around Tokyo as well as your ink and one videos. I became interested in Asian culture somewhat when I met a now deceased lady, Miko, in the nursing home. Her roommate was a longtime friend of mine. Miko’s husband had died many years before, and they had not had children. The last time I saw her before she passed, her roommate had requested that I bring Shelby, my Service Dog, by. Shelby wagged her tail and gently went up to Miko but backed away from my friend; I didn’t know that my friend had bladder cancer, but Shelby sensed it. Anyway, your videos in Tokyo reminds me of Miko, and I wonder what her life was like before she accompanied her military husband to the United Stares and away from her family. 🌷

What a lovely story. That pets bring comfort and happiness to older people and children is such a strong testament to how essential they are. I'm glad you had a chance to meet Miko. And I'm happy that you are interested in Japan.

This is my fantasy shopping experience, oh and that custom notebook ! I have a glass pen but not particulary fond of it. First I'm afraid of cracking it with my pen like grip , second I prefer a broader nib.
@InkyRocks4 жыл бұрын
I'm the same. I'm afraid to use it , not so much because of my grip, but that I may accidentally tap it on something and break the tip off! Funny though, I never worry about a pen rolling off a desk and falling and breaking--I have a lot of pens that are clipless and don't have a roll stop!

Thank you for another wonderful video. Among other things, it makes me nostalgic for Tokyo, although it's been quite a long time since I spent any time there. My in-laws live in Hiratsuka, which is just a little too far to be able to pop over and then get back in time for dinner. I'd love to go to Kakimori and make a few notebooks, especially if they have materials in A4 size (probably they don't, though). What was that first ink in your video, it seemed mostly green but with sort of lavender-brown highlights?

@InkyRocks3 жыл бұрын
There are quite a few "waterproof" inks I like, but I'm not sure what you mean by archival. I'm not sure about the "acid-free" characteristics for inks. But I can tell you one thing, I've spilled a lot of ink (especially for my videos) and for the most part, if an ink won't come off my balcony, I don't worry about it because we get direct sunlight on it. All the inks have faded where you can no longer see it except one: Platinum Sepia. You might want to try that one!

I love seeing the stationery stores in Japan, they are so different from here (apart from the local Japanese owned stores like Maido). It's the videos like this where one glimpses small things and real life in a city that make one feel like you're there. Dandelion started here and is my local chocolatier!
