My (small) Igloo in the West Village had a sauna & shower. I could not imagine communal showers! The cabin in the East Village was dilapidated - looked to have a 1970s electric stove. There was no electrical outlet in the kitchen. Two of the outlets in the cabin didn't work and the only way to use the electric tea kettle was to put it on the floor near the fireplace Looked like an 80s bathroom with bad florescent lighting. In the rest of the cabin, the lighting was utterly dim and it was hard to find things in my luggage. I found the West Village infinitely nicer, with much more photo opps as there are more structures, and even more art installations. The West Village dining room is more of a "dining hall" but the food is the same. I bought a package from a third party travel company so I'm not sure if there's a price difference, but overall I would much more recommend the West Village over the East Village. P.S. - I'm not sure why you said the best way to get to the resort is a 3 hour bus ride from Rovaniemi. I flew to Ivalo and the resort was 15 minutes away.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It really depends on what kind of experience someone is looking forward. The East Village has less people. There are less igloos, and they are more secluded.

Hi Sara ...great vid .Very infornative .Is the resort wheel chair accessible? Do they have their own special wheel chair to roll on snow ... thanks

Hi! Thank you! I appreciate your feedback and for watching the video. I am not sure if the resort is wheelchair accessible. I didn’t see any snow wheelchairs, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t there. I would contact the resort directly to ask your questions. The glass igloo we stayed in would not be wheelchair accessible either, so you want to ask about lodging options as well.

Hi Sara, was it a challenge to move from east to west village? Was their enough shuttle buses? Also were igloos in east village old and dirty? West or east - which one would you recommend?
@sarasscubaandtravelchannelАй бұрын
Hi! It was not difficult to go from one village to the other. We were able to arrange the shuttle with the registration desk in the east village (This is check-in regardless of which village you stay in.). Then, one of the employees in the museum store (west village) called to arrange a shuttle for pickup when we were ready to return to the east village. I did not find the igloo in the east village to be old or dirty. It was very comfortable. The appeal of the igloos in the east village is how secluded they are. There are only twenty igloos in the east village, and they are separated from the rest of accommodations. The east village is more laid back and has less people than the west village, so it just depends on what you are looking for in your experience. Either way, you are allowed to use the amenities in both villages, regardless of which one you are staying in. However, if you want to eat dinner in the village you are not staying in, you have to make arrangements in advance with the registration desk.

Which month did you go? Also have you seen the vegan options? Are they good?
@sarasscubaandtravelchannel5 ай бұрын
Hi! We were there in December. I did not try the vegan options. Sorry. I can tell you the food I tried was good, so hopefully the vegan options would be too. 🤞

What activities are included in your stay?

You have access to the saunas in the shower areas. We had to pay for the cross country skiing and purchase a ticket for the art gallery and planetarium. Watching the northern lights is free! 😊
