“Kalakuta Show” - Tony Allen, Ed Keazor & Shingai Shoniwa (Felabration 2015)

This is an extract from the Felabration which took place at The British Library on Friday October 16. The entire show has been divided into segments, each featuring the performance of guest artists which are being posted on the Fela KZbin channel ( / fela ) and will also be posted on the Fela website, fela.net.
The sold-out show was co-produced by the British Library and Knitting Factory Records and directed by Carl Joseph.

first heard this song in 1984. When band comes in immediately following Fela's saxophone intro I thought to myself, "This is the music I've waited my whole life to listen to." I was 19 years old and standing by the passenger side door of a pickup that was open so I could hear my cassette boom box. I was at work getting ready to do some painting that day. This song along with a lot of Fela's music has been very influential and important to me. This particular piece will forever be the closest to my heart.

Not a bad Take . But lam yet to see a better one . Tony is okay . I think he was not even the drummer in the original Abami Eda version . Bass line alright too. Vocal manageable . Good effort . They should listen more though . Baba would be amused especially by the female vocalist . The preaching continues . Round of applause to the band .
