Sir - I feel you left an important piece in this episode. The relentess efforts of Lakshmi Ammani Devi, mother of Krishnaraja Wadiyar III, with the help of Tirumala Raya who was using back channels talking to the British to bring down Tippu. The british felt it was a good idea to dethrone Tippu and bring back the Wadiyars, which they did eventually. After Krishnaraja Wadiyar III came to power Tirumala Raya did not get anything as promised by the Queen. But the British brought back Purniah who was a staunch minister for Hyder and Tippu and made him the first Dewan of Mysore.
