The title calls this a "Christmas Carol" and "Byzantine Hymn". But this is not a carol, and it is not just another "Byzantine Hymn": it is THE Christmas Troparion written by the incomparable St. Romanos the Melodist, shortly after a vision of the Mother of God in which she unlocked his talent.

+Raluca Demetrescu St. Romanos the Melodist was born and died before the great schism which separated the the church into the eastern church and the western church, so this was written when the Church was united. Also St. Romanos the Melodist is venerated by both the Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church. So no this is not an Orthodox Christian Chant.
@devdasrai8 жыл бұрын
This is an Eastern Orthodox chant, not a Catholic one.
@williamaddoumie60728 жыл бұрын
Iman Allen Did you read what I wrote? And tell me why is it an Orthodox chant?
@devdasrai8 жыл бұрын
+William Addoumieh Yes, this hymn may have been created by Saint Romanos, but it is not used in the Roman Catholic Church. This hymn is known as the Kontakion of the Nativity. Kontakions are styles of hymnography that became associated with the EASTERN CHURCH after the schism. Kontakions are believed to have derived from a style of chanting developed by Saint Isaac the Syrian, an Eastern Orthodox saint. Go and do your research. Many of Saint Romanos' kontakions are used in/associated with the Orthodox faith and are VERY rarely ever used in Roman Catholicsm and are almost never associated with the Roman Catholics, therefore can you really say that they are both? I don't think so. Go and search up this Kontakion as a matter of fact. You'll have a hard time finding a single Roman Catholic source providing the hymn or a single article/website in which the Roman Catholics are also given acknowledgement for the hymn.

No one comes to the father except through ME” Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, *The LORD commands everyone everywhere to Repent and believe in the LORD Jesus and you shall be saved. You and your household. For the Kingdom of God is at hand!* 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. Acts 3:19 Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;❤️

This is so beautiful! The guy's voice is amazing, and the message too. It's good to have the subtitles. Hauntingly beautiful!

This is beautiful. That all mankind would come to know the One who came as a servant, rather than to be served, the One who came to give His life to redeem all of creation from the power of sin and death. God, bless all sons of Ishmael with the knowledge of Your love, through faith in Isa, the Savior of all mankind.

This video is a work of art! Whoever created it did a magnificent job. Thank you. It brings me great joy to hear the beautiful voice and see the amazing pictures. I love how you tell us what everything is in the end. I try to watch it at least once a day and receive peace and inspiration each time.

+Mohammed Alasaad ALL the horrors on this beautiful Planet Earth, now leading us through the open door to World War III, is simply because NOBODY wants Love to unite us. God IS Love; so NOBODY wants Him ~ Therefore this MAGNIFICENT Planet will completely burn in the HATRED of our own making!

+Cuervo Luminoso yep pretty much sums it up people aren't willing to unite petty wars and arguments have divided us whether it being religious or racial or something else
