Look up the Scottish island of st Kilda, the most westerly populated part of Scotland. The last permanent residents left in 1932 after thousands of years of living there.

Its pretty hard to assist remote living when its a lot more expensive to supply Mail service, census gathering, tax collecting, and infrastructure to those places. Its sad but its the way it is

Somewhat agree. I am guessing that there is more to the logic than we know. Cost to provide services has to be huge. Electric, water, sanitation, medical not to mention food, building supplies, fuel etc. Probably financial. As a national park cost are shifted to federal government vs state or local. My guess.
