I don't think the writers were necessarily going out of their way to make her character exceptionally abhorrent. That sounds more like a "you" thing

Cool, you might be right; I'm fine either way. From a bunch of less-than-honest people I just found her variety of duplicity to be particularly irksome, was all. Better I feel something than feel nothing, after all. 😌

Yes. These 2 were the absolute most annoying pair in a show filled with annoying people (with a few exceptions).
