Kaleji (also known as kidney) is an organ meat that is relatively low in cholesterol compared to other animal products. According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), a 3-ounce serving of cooked kaleji (kidney) contains about 233 milligrams of cholesterol. For comparison, here are the cholesterol levels in some other animal products: - Egg yolks: 200-250 milligrams per large egg yolk - Chicken liver: 275-300 milligrams per 3-ounce serving - Beef liver: 300-350 milligrams per 3-ounce serving - Shrimp: 190-200 milligrams per 3-ounce serving So, kaleji has relatively low cholesterol compared to these other animal products. However, it's important to note that dietary cholesterol has a limited impact on blood cholesterol levels for most people.
