I've heard that originally Arnold was approached to play the Kyle character, the hero that comes back to save Sarah. But he was more interested in being the Terminator instead. And the rumor is that one of the first names floating around to play the Terminator was OJ Simpson, but they decided against it because people thought he was too nice to look like a menacing unrelenting killer.

RIP Bill Paxton. To date I believe he is the only actor to have a character he's played die to a Terminator, a Xenomorph alien in Aliens, and a Predator in Predator 2. Freaking legend.

We’ve all been spoiled by modern effects. The prosthetics were exceptionally good for 1984, especially considering the very small budget.

The Terminator raising from the fire might have been from a dream, but the plot always felt like it was from the X-Men story Days of Future Past. But still a great movie. One of the best from Cameron and from Schwarzenegger. Proof that you don’t need a big budget to make a good film.

When I was a kid and when I'd get to the end of the film I'd watch it again in reverse(on VHS) so that the Terminator would get better and go back to his own time and everyone would be happy

in a youtube video ("harlan ellison and the terminator") ellison explains that he'd heard that cameron had bragged to starlog magazine how he'd "ripped off" the idea for the terminator from "a couple of 'outer limits' episodes" that ellison wrote. he also says the movie studio wouldn't let him see the script and never sent him a film critic screening pass to see the movie. ellison sued and got some money and a movie end credit in the settlement.

1. Linda Hamilton ROCKED. She's really built in T2. "Terminator 2 Judgment Day" is the action movie GOAT.🤩 2. Lance Henriksen/Vukovich, Michael Biehn/Reese and Bill Paxton/punk also played in "Aliens" as Bishop, Hicks and Hudson respectively. 3.We have limited AI now. So does China.😱😱 4. If this wasn't a movie the ammunition would not have been available on the gun shop counter. 5. More movie magic: Reese sneaks into a department store at night. 6. Ginger's boyfriend Matt must be a lousy lay if she needs rock and roll to "rock and roll". 7. Watching people react to the eye operation is worth watching this all by itself. 8. THAT'S a bitch slap.😏

Arnold was initially going for the part of Kyle Reese. When he was talking to Cameron, he had a bunch of ideas about how the Terminator should be played. Cameron had to convince him to play the Terminator, thinking that Arnold was perfect for the part with his understanding of how it should go. Imagine how it would have been if Arnold had played Kyle. He would have had a one shot movie and never would have been back to play more parts in the following movies. Of course, it may have flopped with Arnold not being the Terminator though.

The 1980s had great music. Sarah's friend had crap generic music probably because James Cameron could not afford to pay the rights to real music. LOL.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is REALLY, REALLY good at playing a mechanical serial killer, especially doing it completely deadpan. Funniest line in this movie to me is when The Terminator scrolls through his list of responses when the landlord asks about the bad odor coming from the room and he chooses to say "Fuck you, asshole."

And we do, we literally just posted beetlejuice beetlejuice which neither of us had seen. We watched this movie because we had watched Terminator Zero, which neither of us had seen. Emily needed to go back to understand the lore of the world.

Terminator was recorded before filming Aliens which is why there is no mention in this reaction.
