As a bama fan, one thing I really appreciate is that While CKD is respectful of bama, its legacy, and saban... he seems to have a quiet confidence that "you really havent seen anything yet" ... basically he isnt a bama simp regarding its history, which is awesome.

Yes, I remember Ray perkins very well coming and getting rid of a lot people, things, including bringing stupid white helmets, replacing the play by play guy. Trying to basically redo Bama football. He had no respect for the Bama legacy.

Naysayers!!!! DeBoer has won everywhere he's been. His win loss record is by far better than Sabans at the same time periods in their careers. All this nitpicking about certain positions on the team lacking is uncalled for until they materialize. I don't think they will. And remember, there were many many Naysayers when Saban was hired. This is Alabama....The most winning football program in college history. Some bumps along the road at times but we always seem to find that 4wheel drive vehicle. This is a new Era in college athletics and Saban didn't want to deal with it. DeBoer is a new Era coach. Whether we like it or not. If you're a true Bama fan, Roll with it baby....RTR

Culture for me is a series of Habits of an Emotional Thought Process that Align an Organization (or even a family or one person) thru a singular Vision in the areas of Personnel / Operations / Strategy. There are Sub-Cultures and Sub-Visions throughout the Main Culture & Vision. Great interview! I have had my eye on Kalen going back to EMU and my studies go back to his mentors @ Sioux Falls. Big fan of his Offense and Culture. I love the idea of a Vision - so well broken down - to the specific sub-Vision for each individual player and their role. I understand that many coaches do this - but like Schemes on the field - it's not the knowledge of what's come before, but the new ways of implementing and, even more so, understanding these concepts. The defined understanding of all pieces of this incredible Game come to bear on transferring it to all who share in the organizational goals. A vision for each player - just a great way to share that concept of building the Team around the Players and making it about them, while at the same time making it about more than each of them individually.

It’s difficult for Alabama fans to get used to the “awe shucks” factor that you get with Kalen DeBore. Alabama’s most successful head coaches of the past 65 were hard-ass types.

I think you are absolutely right. I live in Tuscaloosa, and I've ALWAYS been a huge Tide fan. However I'm not your stereotypical "Bamer" in that I don't feel like we are entitled to anything. We have to go out there an earn it. I think that the difference in the head ball coach's mindset you bring up is absolutely the right direction for college football in general right now. These younger guys respond less positively to these hard ass coaches and more and more with team/family building coaching styles. This style acknowledges the talent and football knowledge these guys come to the team with, and helps get their mind right to learn even more. Its about a mutual respect between player and coach. Respect should never be a one way street. KD understands that. I also have a feeling that if the situation calls for it, he can get in there and chew a player out that really needs and responds well to that.

Certainly a possible outcome. I, for one, don't have a magical crystal ball that tells me such things for sure. Rather than trusting your crystal ball, I think I'll just wait and watch some good football in the fall and enjoy the ride. Certainly I hope you're wrong, but it would be naive for all of us fans to not expect some level of drop off. We can hope we are wrong about that as well. I have a question for you though. What would you expect to see, W/L wise out of the Tide over the next 3 years to make you feel like it was worth the money? Depending on your answer, we may not even have opposing views here.

Baseball upset #1 Arkansas, Softball upset #3 Tennessee, Basketball made it to the final 4 and lost the national champions, gymnastics won the national title a year or two ago, Byrne knows what he’s doing when making these hires. And besides, after a total 18 national titles in football plus another 6 before the AP poll era, legendary coaches don’t come to Alabama. We make coaches legendary. They'll be fine, Bama's defense was downhill since 2017 already allowing many points against good opponents. Lsu had NO defense last year, even worse than Deboer's Washington team and LSU still won 10 games while being in the sec. Plus, Bama doesn't have the same DC from Washington. Bama will be fine. Plus the thing about Washington is that even when their defense wasn't the greatest, they made stops when they needed to
