Kali's CSRX 300: Now Worse Than Ever! - Rainbow Six Siege

Patch Y5 S4.3 has been rushed onto the live servers in a desperate move to fix the loadout reset bug but as a consequence, none of the changes have had the chance to be tested properly. The update to Kali's CSRX 300 sniper rifle (removing the 1-shot-dbno mechanic and increasing the base damage to 122) had already been flagged as a questionable move that might make her borderline unplayable and now for better or for worse, that change is on the live servers. In this video, I will be breaking down the damage stats to explore why exactly the new change is so bad for Kali but that's not all. During my tests I discovered a major issue with the damage multiplier stacking for the CSRX that results in highly unreliable damage output. In short: the CSRX damage model is completely broken and even if it worked as intended, it's a terrible change for Kali players anyway.

As a kali main, it hurt me physically to read the patch notes, I already often had clunky game mechanics screwing me over where body shots didn't cause a DNBO before patch (note - this happened to operators without rook armour) but now whenever I hit body shots on 3speed operators they just walk away with just a scratch and causing me to loose the fight due to down time before I can shoot again or switch weapon.

Saw the patch notes and convinced myself that Ubi is trolling us. Turns out im wrong. Best way to balance the CSRx is 1 shot insta kill against 3 and 2 speed. . 1 speed goes into DBNO. Remove all the nonsense with Rook armor and remove the speed penalty when running with the gun. The only way to increase her pick rate would be to give her another secondary SMG which I dont think is a good idea. Just rework thatcher or introduce another thatcher alternative operator.

Ngl, probably would have been way simpler if they made her sniper ALWAYS dbno or kill anyone 80 HP or under and ignore Rook armor. It's an anti-material rifle, shit gonna ignore armor IRL anyways and it would make the gun super consistent. Would allow her to be a real threat in the right hands and area deny HARD, forcing defenders to push her. Meanwhile, her weak point is doing the actual pushing. And if you suck with aiming, you're fucked from the 1.2s of weapon switching or chambering unless the enemy has even worse aim. If she's still too weak, maybe allow her to shoot through reinforced walls but create no holes and lose 1/2-3/4 of her damage with no headshot instakill, dealing 25-50 damage to someone behind the wall? It'd be hard to get a lucky wallbang with a bolt action and it'd be stupid to waste your limited ammo too unless you know you can hit them. Allows her to destroy some gadgets or prevent tricking, to an extent, or at least makes it riskier to trick.

I think the best balancing would be: 3 speeds - Kill instantly W/ Rook armor - DBNO 2 speeds - Kill instantly W/ Rook - DBNO. 3 Speeds - DBNO W/ Rook - same. The gun shouldn't ever experience damage drop because of surfaces, that shit can tear huge holes through 5 surfaces in a row normally, I don't think human flesh is extremely more potent than 5 layers of wood, or if shot through a surface, 4 layers.

@@devor110 exactly, it will be very strong but not broken, as a direct DBNO is in the eyes of UBI. I think it is a great alternative to DBNO. As long as you are constantly hitting your shots you are not going to eat a bullet from your target.

As a Kali main, I was so mad when I heard about this change. The point of Kali was "you hit - you win, you miss - you die", but now it is impossible to duel 3 armor defenders, because it will take too long to kill them. You can't deal with spawnpeeking rook now, he is too chonky. Moreover, you can't play Kali as a sniper now because the damage reduction will make her shots pointless.

Switch the CSRX so if you hit a leg shot, it triggers a speed debuff (slowing down the operator for 10 seconds by about 30%), and if you hit an arm shot, it triggers an ADS debuff (slowing down ADS time by about 25% and slightly increases recoil) and bring back the one shot down body shot, and if you down someone, there will be a massive bleedout debuff which decreases DBNO time from 60 seconds to 20 (when holding down wound) and from 30 seconds to 10 (when not holding down wound). This makes it so players can't crawl away after downing them long range (or atleast give them a smaller chance of getting away).

Love your data analysis. One question, when armor and speed are always related to one another, why do you define 3 armor operators as "1 speed" instead of "3 armor". They're synonymous, but when the focus in the data analysis is the effect against armor, why do you define them by their speed?

If they wanted to make Rook a counter to Kali they should have made it where if a defender has a plate, the sniper takes 2 shots to down. This way the chest, one hit down mechanic will stay and keep Kali somewhat viable. If not this they need to make her bullet reset faster so she can fire shots off more consecutively. But to be honest they should have left her alone, maybe just make her reset faster.
