Taha Khan . No Taha Khan that is not real truth behind Kali Maa's dance on Lord Shiva. Children and ignorant people are told such tales. God doesnt have husband, wife, children etc. God is self sufficient and doesnt need all these relationships. What we have done is create these sort of relationships for God similar to us. And in this way God becomes more personal to us. You can now choose to worship and love God in whatever way you choose to - fsther, mother, friend etc. Kali Maa represents the ultimate reality in a vibrant form free from any bondage. She is known as Digambary - " The naked one" or in other words " The pure one" who doesnt need any fake apparel to cover her for truth needs no covering or lies to camorflage it. Shiva represents a perfect being devoid of any attachment or desire. The true meaning of Kali Maa on Shiva is when the supreme mother, Shakti or truth touches a person he/she becomes Shiva.

Sorry Taha Khan. Thats not the real truth behind Kali Maa standing on Shiva. Abt Shiva being her husband and she felt shy thts why her toungue comes out is just a story told to children and it is not supported by any scripture. According to certain scriptures Kalimata is Para Brahman in form. Thats also y she is naked "Digambari" as she is beyond Maya. She is black as eventually all colours merge into her and lose their own identity. Shiva here is "shava" a corpse only. Only when the this ParaShakti stands on him will he become Shiva. Similarly when u surrender at her feet you too are now on the path to become Shiva.

Well said. It's a general truth, that we (humans) see ourselves, we feel only ourselves and we believe only ourselves. That is what brings culture and so called civil sophisticacy to us who claim themselves to be humans that is creatures with sensibilities and intellect of understanding. But if that picture is scratched it doesn't take long time for us the humans to become savage by usages of guns, bombs and nuclear weapons. So the shameless narrowness of sophistication keeps the blanket of blames and conspiracies to save what it projects as a self's need. Do you know what Kali represents ? She represents that what defeats this hippocratic choice of living. That's her nudeness. The blood in her mouth is the blood that craved all along to get a transfusion for purification and the head is that head which had ("malla") shit to be cleaned. That's why she is also called as dark goddess. Because she is that darkness which enables light so that inequalities of existantial prameters disappear in equilibrium of enlightenment (which is a form of darkness holding enlightening stars.) and sense of care as it comes from a mother to children by blood, keep on flowing in universe of humanity Thanks. Kali is not outside you both Shiva and Kali are inside you. In your normal life you have Spirit and Will = thoughts and feelings. Theses are the “masculine thought” and the “feminine feelings.". You are normal and balanced this way.. In their higher form they are thoughts as Shiva and feelings as Durga / Kali. Now when in your normal life you become stressed or anxious or you have anxiety This is very bad thoughts and beliefs that have powerful feelings in them. The thoughts and beliefs trap the feeling so that you must feel stress and anxiety and anxious and cannot change this pattern. Depression is the same, bad not true thoughts trapping depressing feelings ( like tyrants ) and you are unable to fight against them so depression lingers on.. Angry people have angry feeling trapped in angry thoughts... And then we have pain and grief and sorrow all thoughts that trap theses feelings ( the woman or woman child ) This is very real and happens to most people at some point in their life... IF you add that the thought was a man person and the feeling was a woman person you begin to see the Bad Man thoughts are the Demons.. And the trapped innocent woman / child feelings are what is abused by the Bad Man thoughts..( demons ) AND we have loads of them the bad thoughts holding against the will of the feeling ( people) . So the image is of demon armies. Self judgement, self guilt, self blame, self denial self intimidation and on and on the demon army goes rampant in your inner being.. If you can grasp this understanding the you will know the whole of the Gita and the whole of the Ramayana and all about the Goddess and Gods including Kali are based on this simple inner world understanding of thoughts over feelings and man over woman and the inner conflicts that result. Michael Harrell. U r absolutely right. It is as u described but so much more. And that is the beauty of the hindu philosophy. It doesnt limit yr thought processes. The abrahamic religions on the other hand have certain dogma and thts it. U question too much and ull be labelled a blasphemer. Hindu philosophy encourages u to think as far as yr imagination can go. Cause all that is God and because God is infinite there is no end to his magnifisence. As we evolve we know so much more. U keep seeking until all yr questions cease and ur one with God. The collective rage of us and the rage she inspires in all of us against injustice--but I distract from that in my personal beliefs of justice. She has the wisdom of death and life in that order. She is what we also can't deny, no matter how much reason intoxicates us: we have instincts to survive. Just my opinion. I still think the priests must have honored her after she torched a civilization, perhaps even another world. When your opponent is stronger, you have to show respect and be willing to bow yourself.

There are 3 gunas.. Satva...Raja..Thama... Kali is a thamasic interpretation of The Rajasic Shakti..! Kali depicts the third power of darkness (thamas) which is the most powerful that she used against certain powerful evil forces..She battled evil (who are basically thamasic) with evil.. but since thamas is UNCONTROLLABLE..whenever Shakti takes Kali form..Shiva has to struggle a lot to take her back to her orginal form..! Kali standing on Shiva pic is such an incident where Shiva layed down on her pathway and before stepping into her husband she quickly realise her true identity and regains consiousness !!

Kali is the feminine aspect. Maybe that's why the man's decapitated head is in her left hand, signifying the control over the masculine aspect. Perhaps the multiple arms symbolize the multiple ways the feminine aspect influence the cosmos and consciousness.

In order to understand the iconography of Mahakali, one must look pass the seemingly horrific imaginary and female sexualization. The feminized Sanskrit word Mahakali translates to “Great Time”. The primordial energy/matter, which animates space and is perceived by us as the linear sequence of events which we call time. Mahakali symbolizes the destructive aspect of this primordial energy/matter or Shakti/Prakriti (that which is manifested i.e. matter/mother nature). Nature is oblivious to the notion of human wants and needs and thus the destroyer of ego. Ego keeps the mind in the illusionary cyclic state of Samsara and causes one`s disconnection with Shiva/Purusha (that which is not manifested i.e. consciousness).

I would like to genuinely gain an understanding of kali because I’m currently confused. Is the worship of kali the worship of death ? I understand that death has its place and it’s not death that I fear, but the glorification of destroying rather than creating does not sit right with me. If we are simultaneously the creator and creation than to invert that would result in something close to the “anti christ” or inverted life. Not necessarily death but something completely different. I just need a little help here is all.

It has deeper meaning dear. Here death symbolise death of ego( ignorance) . Death itself is just death of gross body. After death ur subtle body are still there. So fear of death itself is a great illusion that hovers on all mankind. She simply a goddess who destroy all fear, shame, guilt which stems from our ignorance. Once u realise ur eternal self not subject to birth and death all ur fears gradually subsides. She is goddess that just impart true wisdom of actual reality of ur blissful self ( not subject to death and birth) .i had vision of her in Meditation when I was facing my deepest fear

This is wrong history being told. In this video , They are telling that in nineteenth century kali was associated with evil and worshipped by thugs. But in nineteenth century kali was worshipped widely in bengal there were temples like kalighat and dakshineswar to her in bengal from nineteenth century infact more 100 years back only. Yes she was worshipped by dacoits but even common people of bengal worshipped kali widely n even now in bengal kali is worshipped. Pls give correct history.

I had her lick my face. I felt and saw no blood. Just a tongue and then her eyes. I feel she is the Holy Spirit in the Trinity, God, son, and Holy Spirit. I had been searching my life for what Jesus tried to explain but has been covered up by the church.
