Good evening brother. Shopping at the public market is definitely different from the U.S. We do have modern groceries in Kalibo; but their produce cost more. We buy our produce at the public market and buy our meats in the grocery. Take care and God bless.

You will be feasting on sweet mangoes and jackfruit my friend. What’s nice about those two fruits, they are available year round. Other fruits here tend to be seasonal. You can always buy sweet mangoes and jackfruit.

We buy all our produce at the public markets or road stands. They are fresher in my opinion than buying in the groceries. Plus, we like supporting the local farmers.

Price of honey is 150 pesos ($2.60) per pint. I think the honey taste better than processed honey you buy at the grocery; the consistency is thicker.

The dialect they speak in Kalibo is Aklanon. Most people speak Tagalog and English also.
