Good afternoon KALI CENTER. On Good Friday afternoon, i was practicing bolo machete shadowboxing drills with a razor sharpened walther machtac 4 machete. I am begginer to machetes. Suddenly while practicing, i lowered the machete to perform a side virtual diffence drill on the side of my left thigh, but the blade nose-tip didnt stop at my left hand, it slipped my hand which was supposed to keep the blade steady on it, and it pierced through my ...thigh. THE BLADE immediately cut through the upper leg all way through the skin like butter, & all the way down to the artery and sliced a little bit of my outer upper leg muscles! Blood was pumping out fast like 30-40 inches...out of the wound! IF i didnt get to medical care fast i 'd be dead by now. THe wound was deep down to the leg near the ...bone, which was around 6 inches surface skin cut, to ... 4inches deep very close to the bone! As we speak right now, the skin is healed but the internal wound still suffers from bleeding!! I need a visit to the doctor again, to drain out the concentrated blood under the stitches, and i hope it won't bleeed internally again. Pray for me that God puts an end to my suffering and heal the leg, since after 20 days now, i am still not able to walk properly or bend the knee of the injured leg without dreadfull pain... I will get a dummy machete next time and please people, hear me out : DO NOT start with a razor sharp machete as a begginer, or you may hurt yourselves as i did. My love to everyone and PRACTICE SAFE dudes.

Wish you the best of luck healing from your injury. ALWAYS begin with a trainer blade and NEVER a real blade. There are specific progressions for proper training and a proper curriculum is critical.

So is the purpose of hubud to train for reacting to attacks at many different angles that you can eventually 'naturally' react to anything thrown at you?

Yes

3:04 Won't you be vulnerable to an angle 4 backslash or a 6 stab to the torso?

Probably works with reverse grip as well

Why trap at the elbow? They still have a significant range of motion with their forearm if you're trapping above their elbow as shown. Genuine question, not sarcastic or anything. I have 5 years training, but only a few months of knife defense and I like learning about different perspectives.

To me it looks a lot like an arm drag from wrestling or bjj… I may be off base here, but it seems that you only surrender that control to continue the flow. Real life application would be to use that arm drag to move the out of position to give yourself an open avenue of attack. Just a guess.

Dead legs. A dead body. Very bad. In such exercises, you have to move in a circle or in an arc back and forth. When attacking in the stomach, you practically butt. Disgusting.
