These are just long sword techniques. The roof block is the same as the Hanging Guard I learned studying Meyer. I also see you guys going into the Ox Guard. It’s awesome how martial arts from all over can be so similar. I love it! Great vid!

A quick note brother! With the 4ft staff you have a disadvantage as far as reach, but an advantage in mobility! Great video!

That moment when the staffs clash together and one person's staff breaks in half.

Staff breaks in half and becomes twin Kali Sticks

Hmm, these align with longsword surprisingly well, which I guess makes sense looking at the length of those staffs vs longer spears or top heavy polearms treatises often compare to. Plus, hanging parry seem pretty common across many cultures from all over, so that high guard looking similar seem logical.

Yes, same principles. 👍🏻

Awesome. Thank you much. Employed my sibat this weekend to chase off a racoon so my cats could eat. This is much better usage.

Nice, I really need one to practice my coordination, yesterday I hitted my elbow really hard while training with the staff😂
@zachariaravenheart4 жыл бұрын
Funny enough, when I trained with nunchucks and the staff, I hit myself more with the staff and never really did that with the nunchucks. I was quite surprised XD

@@zachariaravenheart same, but with kali sticks XD After the pain I got from getting hit I won't underestimate the staff😂

Not super super serious but I was at a community garden place similar to that setting and a guy passing by asked what do I call my padded Eskrima sticks ( I'd no rattan pair with me) & I just replied "training sticks". Later a bit I said Kali but only because he performs this demo of 'Shao Lin' double stick and I said that's a weave, then said I practice weaves in Kali. Cool. Had the staff there too. {Kind of cultural exchange or something}.
