All the years I lived in Kalihi-Palama and don't recall ever driving up Kalihi Valley. Why? My parents and family had no reason to. This is a residential area and we didn't know anyone there. We would have driven on the main roads to commercial areas mostly. So Kalihi Valley, even though I heard of it, is still unknown to me.

Kalihi, a Polynesian word, is not unique to Hawaii. It is used elsewhere in Polynesia, even Micronesia. Outside of Hawaii, Kalihi is spelled, Kahili.
@BraddahBruce
@BraddahBruce Жыл бұрын
I apologize if you felt I was claiming the word as only Hawaiian. There are many similarities throughout Polynesia. Kahili is something totally different here in Hawai'i. Kalihi in Hawaiian means a place of transition. Kahili A kāhili is a symbol of the aliʻi chiefs and families of the Hawaiian Islands. It was taken by the Kamehamehas as a Hawaiian royal standard and used by the Royal Families to indicate their lineage. The kāhili has long been a symbol of the Hawaiian aliʻi chiefs and the noble houses of the Hawaiian Islands. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalihi I have heard the history of Hawai'i includes the people of Micronesia. 🍍😎🤙🌴🥥🌺🌈

@@BraddahBruce Hawaii was amazing even though it was raining like most of the time was there but it’s okay! As long as I had fun with ohana and all I still enjoyed it! @@BraddahBruce I live in a small Central Valley town in California, moved from Hawaii in the 80s because I was married to a woman in the military who got transferred to California.
