As a dayaknese, from central borneo, i am amazed by this video. Especially when the elder said that dayak People respect People come for funeral ceremony. Thats what my mother always teach me to spare time and prioritize to come for someone's funeral.

I was fortunate to meet a Dayak tribe when I was 14 or 15 years old and living in Balikpapan. Our school took a 5 day long field trip with some guides. The only access to their village was by boat. It might have been the first time they seen any white American men and children and certainly the wonders of a polaroid instant camera where they could see the film develop from nothing. We got to see shrunken skulls and learn a little bit about them. This left quite an impression on both parties and was an experience I will always treasure. I feel sad for the exploits of the resources and the mono crops that large corporations have done to the amazing jungle. I hope the young will help protect and preserve because once it is gone, it will be gone for all generations.

I think the best way to improve the tourism, we should start with running trail sport. I'm Dayakite and I love to run in trail tracks. A lot of people today love running in trail tracks, climbing the cliff, explore the cave, and Kalimantan has a lot of hardest hill and it is very challenging. The government should get an eye on this chance.

Naga and Austronesian people came from Southern China during pre Han dynasty.. and started migrated during Han dynasty conquest and genocide against ancient people in Southern China.. it was well known in chinese history about ancient people in Southern China as known as "Hundred Yue" in english term "Hundred Barbarians"

Vietnamese people who understand history always consider the Dayak people as lost brothers. The modern Dayak people are a people with half Austroasitic and Austronesian blood, but 4,000 years ago, the Dayak were an Austroasiatic language-speaking people and were brothers with the ancient Vietnamese people. This is clearly because some linguists also prove that Dayak has some ancient Austroasiatic vocabulary. The traditions of the Dayak people that are similar to Vietnamese prehistory, such as the Vietnamese ancestors also worshiping bird, crocodiles/dragons, tattooing crocodiles/dragons, and the roofs of the Dayak people are also decorated with birds like ancient Vietnamese people,... in the past. Some Austroasiatic language-speaking ethnic brothers in Vietnam still kept the longhouse. In particular, your headhunting custom is quite similar to the ancient Vietnamese and some brother of Vietnamese like the Katu in my country. Because we have gone through the process of invasion and cultural separation, many traditions have been lost in the present, but when Vietnamese people see Dayak, you are like an embodiment of the past. Im indonesian bruh...dayak, toraja, and some tribes in (indonesia), burmese peoples, naga (NE india), igorots (phillipine) have so many similarities and i believe they are comes from the same roots, because borneo island, sumatra island, java, and bali island was parts of big sunda land along with other south east asia countries (include burmese) in ancient times long before the sea start raising (great flood) so they got separated, igorots (phillipine) and toraja (sulawesi island indonesia) could be the latest tribe that migrated to south east asia I believe that their ancestors came from somewhere in between this big sunda land or in taiwan

There are hundreds of tribes in Dayak.What you show to your viewers are Dayaknese that already mixed with Brunei/Malay culture. Dayak that lives in Central and South Kalimantan are mixed with Brunei/Malay culture. i Can see it clearly from their songs and costumes. Dayak tribes that live in North, East and West Kalimantan are the one that still carry oriental culture. They really carry their culture that sounds oriental and their looks as well. Their ancestors migrate from Yunnan, South China to Kalimantan. I know it cuz I am 100% dayaknese. The chief that ever lived in Dayaknese village knew the history and most of Dayaknese family surnames are Chinese surnames. However, around 1960 the government asked the most of the Dayaknese people to change their surnames in order to get their Indonesian citizenships. My late great grandfather was 100% Dayak Kenyah Umaq Kulit resided in North Kalimantan his name was Abo Tjau (Chao) my late great grandmother named Anne Li, she was Dayaknese too. However, now all Dayaknese people consider themselves as Indonesians, even though they know their ancestors are merely from Yunnan, China.
