Deep in the remaining old growth forests of Borneo, the Setulang Dayak village guards its forest with deep commitment. To date, the village's traditional law of Tana Olen (forbidden forest), withstands increasing pressure from encroaching logging industries. Now as rapid development rolls in, the village is trying to secure sustainable and forest-friendly future, including a eco-tourism venture and carbon credits.

I'm dayak kanayatn in west borneo.. Appreciate this video and society at setulang. Semoga semua masyarakat adat di Kalimantan bisa menjaga hutan dan ekosistemnya. Jangan biarkan tanah kita rusak oleh sawit dan tambang. Tergiur uang sekarang membuat kita miskin kemudian.

Nice to see the lifestyle of my own people in the other side of Borneo Island. Am a Kenyah from Baram Sarawak of the Badeng/Jamok tribe. Perfectly understands what Bro Kule Adjang says in the video. And am really please to see the old Kenyah lifestyle is still preserved, yet I am impress with Bro Kule's knowledge on the effect of preserving the forest. Way to go senganak(Bro) Kule.....

For those who thinks, Borneo is in Malaysia. "The island Kalimantan/Borneo is divided among three countries: Malaysia and Brunei in the north, and Indonesia to the south. Approximately 73% of the island is Indonesian territory.

Well, Borneo is an island, not an ethnic or a language (Malay), definitely not an offensive term (Indon).

This man's words are so wise. His words echo our ancestors. And all the foolish and greedy timber and oil palm "tycoons" can go to hell. God said He would destroy those who destroy the earth. Amen.

What a beautiful place, I wish I could go back to such a simple life of all working for the betterment of the whole tribe. Modern people have become stupid by gaining to much wisdom to fast and forgetting the roots of us all, forgetting the common laws of nature. We now live in the earth instead of off the earth, such stupidity will be the death of us all in time.

Are you a Dayak? Are you indigenous? Judging from your videos, you're not. What do you know of the indigenous way of life, huh? Have you ever live with the Dayaks before? Different groups or tribes of the Dayaks? Have you ever lived in longhouse before? Did you ever step foot on Borneo (Kalimantan, Sarawak and Sabah)? Tell me, how do you distinguish the different trees to built houses? Who are you to dictate the way Dayaks should live? Are you blind? Are they not living in the jungle? Hmmph.

If at all possible they must keep the money and money empowered tourism out of the Villages. Because the excessively wealthy worldly people tourism brings - and the false excessive convenience money - and the high intellect -of so-called interesting people will taint the minds - of the village populations. And make them believe money is the most important THING in life - (especially the younger generations) And then the freedom and the free-of-charge nature of the village way of life - will become (instead) all for the money - and thus a fake way of provisioning the village - and thus no longer A real village WAY-OF-LIFE. And all the villagers will then all exist only to serve the money-empowered tourism money empowered hierarchy.
