*Corrections 0:10 - I used the word 'any". But then at 4:02 I have stated accurately that the "ban would cover almost ~50% of the import". 0:27 - Kaliningrad is the capital of the Russian province of the same name. Oblast means area, I mistook as name of a province. 1:06 - The name Kaliningrad is not German, its Russian. The German name was Konigsberg. 9:55 - Regarding the declining value of Rubel. Let me explain - Kaliningrad is far away from mainland Russia. Ruble is strong only inside Russia, and so is inflation. Ruble is not tradable anywhere in Europe. That's why Russia is demanding ruble payment, and MANY Western countries are also denying. Kaliningrad cannot use the ruble to buy anything from its nearby European countries. It is now purely dependent on Russian mainland. Plus getting anything from Russia is going to be expensive because of the longer route. So the ruble of Kaliningrad region is dropping. Rest everything is analysis and perspective. And you may have a different perspective depending on which country you live, what your country's interests are and who you are in favor of. Apologies for the mistakes. Thank you.

The price of oil in the rest of the world might be affected by Russian supply...but in the US, it is purely greed of American oil producers and the internal attack on the American middle/lower class. The Russian supply is the scapegoat used to conceal this fact.

You are now a great man. Why? Because you listened to the folks who commented, and apologised for any errors you have made. This is the measure of an honourable person...Furthermore, thank you for the video. Seeing a map, and how NATO has almost surrounded Russia clears things up. I am only interested from an academic perspective. Very interesting what some said about the Danzig question, which started WW2...You could do a video showing how similar the situation then, is so close to what is happening now....Cheers from Australia.

Omission here: Lithuanian independence was granted back in 1991 conditionally, so that ground transit to and fro Kaliningrad will always remain unobstructed. This superseedes any EU or NATO-wide obligations that Lithuania bears. Violation of such condition renders Lithuanian independence null and void. The VERY IMPORTANT ASPECT OF WHAT IS GOING ON is that in 2004, when Baltic states were joining EU, an agreement was signed that Russia will let Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia be a part of the EU and recognize Lithuanian territorial integrity only if the Baltic states do not intervene in the transit of Russian goods to Kaliningrad. So, by violating the provisions of the treaty Lithuania risks to lose this guarantee Moreover, the West imposed sanctions on Russia and import from it, but, de-jure, Kaliningrad transit is not an act of import as it is basically Russia-Russia logistic route. So, basically, there is no point in doing what Kithuania is doing even from the juridical point of view.

First, Russia never "let" anyone become part of the EU. Russia does not hold a veto over anyone joining the EU. Secondly, the Soviet Union, in 1993, recognized Lithuania and the issue was NEVER linked to allowing transit through Lithuanian territory. The borders of Lithuania were recognized in 1920 by the Soviet Union. Finally, Russia does NOT guarantee anyone's 'territorial integrity' outside of CSTO members, which Lithuania is not a part of. Russia violates internationally recognized territorial integrity all the time so any such 'guarantee' would be worth toilet paper, much like the Budapest Memorandum Russia signed with Ukraine to exchange nuclear weapons for 'safety'. In 1994 Russia and Lithuania signed an agreement, treaties.un.org/doc/Publication/UNTS/Volume%201831/volume-1831-I-31342-English.pdf , on transit rules. You should read it carefully before commenting.

Wikipedia: "In January 1758, the Russians invaded East Prussia, where the province, almost denuded of troops, put up little opposition.[66] East Prussia had been occupied by Russian forces over the winter and would remain under their control until 1762, although it was far less strategically valuable to Prussia than Brandenburg or Silesia. In any case, Frederick did not see the Russians as an immediate threat and instead entertained hopes of first fighting a decisive battle against Austria that would knock them out of the war. ... As the Prussian armies had dwindled to just 60,000 men and with Berlin itself about to come under siege, the survival of both Prussia and its king was severely threatened. Then on 5 January 1762 the Russian Empress Elizabeth died. Her Prussophile successor, Peter III, at once ended the Russian occupation of East Prussia and Pomerania (see: the Treaty of Saint Petersburg (1762)) and mediated Frederick's truce with Sweden." Russian emperor had basically saved Prussia (the heart of future Germany) as such back in 1700-s... Unfortunately, the English article does not give any details. Check out the Russian Wikipedia: "During the Seven Years' War, Russian troops conquered East Prussia, whose citizens (including I. Kant) swore an oath of allegiance to the Russian crown. Until Peter III made peace with Prussia, the governors-general ruled in Königsberg on behalf of the Russian Empress." So, the history of Russian rule over the area starts quite a bit earlier...

I can confirm most of that from my knowledge about it. Here You a well desriebed but short movie clip about it. In this Sweden is very big and enemy to Russia as well as Denmark. The Danes decide to take Skaane back by military force. Its an agreement Russia should help by blocking an swedish navy movements for troops and battles(danes had a big fleet too). The Dames attack and send a message to St. Peterborg for the help. BUT the distance is many days. So at the same time - it wil say before the danish message arrive - the Russiand and Swedes finally after many years of hostalities agree in the dividings there. Its ven worse for Denmark. The attack to take a corner of Denmark back is a treat for passing ships at Helsinore and Copenshagen(hard tax). By that the Dutch trading and passing there too help the Swedes to take back the eatern side of Oersund. By that Denmark can tax any and everybody bsides Denmrk is happy. In next generation its the opposite way around. The Swedes almost take all the leftover Denmark. The Dutch again arrive(By Admiral Opdam) and with their marines, navy and supply vessels help defeat Sweden for having both sides of Oeresund. They also dont want Sweden to have both sides and being taxas again. I wil say Poles which are the Polsh upperclass and Kings has been their own worst enemies. In periods they has a upperclass parlament, whci only could decide if all agreed. By that there was no decidings.

Until year 1703, Kaliningrad or Köningsberg was capital of all West and Central Russia, including Prussia (Preussen) and Germany (Berlin), after this time, from year 1705 St. Petersburg (Petrograd) was restored during 400 year period digging it out out soil smashed forest caused by large Tsunami wave 826 years ago. In year 1705 St. Petersburg became new capital of Central Russia, Berlin became new capital of West Russia or what we also call Prussia (Germany and today part of Poland) and Yekaterinburg became new capital of East Russia . Sweden in Estonian language is Rotsi, Rotsi is dialect name for Russia (Prussia or Preussen). . . Preussen is actually Russia spelled with Latin language, since P in Russian alphabet is spelled R in Latin alphabet, but they were reading Russian language with Latin spelling = Prussia, today's correct spelling is Russia . About 300 years ago, Russia was in fact all of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, most of today Germany, most of Poland, all Baltic States, except for part of Latvia that was a French colony and were using old French language . . . maps of Russia back in 1734 is clearly picturing this fact, also when looking into language and recent history. . Take a look at Kaliningrad (Leningrad or Köningsberg) border with Poland, you can see border is drawn straight, you will quickly see same situation with border between North America and Alaska, both borders are artificial and result of both wars and land being sold for political reasons . What are the Russia plans as the winter starts to freeze the Baltic? How long would it take for NATO tanks to reach the nukes? The review turned out, unfortunately, rather superficial, with many errors. From myself I can add why Stalin considered it necessary to annex Koenigsberg to Russia, and not to Poland, for example, as he did with the rest of Prussia. Oddly enough, he considered it quite normal. What would you know, on January 24, 2022, it was 264 years since the inhabitants of Koenigsberg took the oath to the Russian Empress Elizaveta Petrovna, daughter of the reformer Tsar Peter the Great. On this day, during the Seven Years' War, East Prussia became part of the Russian Empire as a province for 4 years. By the way, Immanuel Kant was among those who took the oath. He subsequently emphasized his loyalty to the Russian Empress. His letter to Elizaveta Petrovna concerning the competition for the position of an ordinary (full-time) professor of logic and metaphysics has been preserved, in which he declares his desire to faithfully serve the new government.

Kaliningrad has its own 3 airport some has been improved by having longer and stronger landing strip and can have bigger airplanes with larger caring capacity to transfer goods. Plus Russia has ships t6hat it can use to send goods and the EU cant cut off air space or sea transport. It will just make things more difficult that it.

it is smart since it will bind up the logistics of Russia and increase spending when money is short.

@@papab34r they are making more money now on oil and gas which will cover the money issue in the first place. the high price on oil and gas is do to restriction caused by sanctions. Russia will make more money on resources to cover the loss for kaliningrad.

@@warrior3614 the thing is, yes Russia is currently making record profits with gas and oil. But in the long term this revenue stream will decrease - with other countries ramping up their Oil/Gas production and almost all EU countries moving to faze out Russian Energy, Russia is set to loose money in the long term - and with sanctions likely not beeing liftet the extra strains because of Kaliningrad will stay, while their profits won't

@@julian4695 it will take them years before they stop buying gass and a lot of the countries are going back to coal which EU is 70% dependent on Russian coal. If that fail Russia can capture estonia riga and latvia. NATO wont start WW3 over this small countries.

@@warrior3614 there are only so many ships and planes available to deliver cargo, regardless if the cargo has a civilian or military purpose, by tying up assets elsewhere this puts a strain on the system, regardless how much money a country is making. The next logical step is by blockading russian ships from entering the baltic sea outside of Denmark, then we shall finally see some interesting and noteworthy actions from the European block.

I agree. They try to sell the Russian propaganda version. The ambargo has onlyu covered, what we as EU has decided and not the rest. Kaliningrad also can reach Russia by the sea. The very much depended is Belarus. Its very expensive for them and a timewaster to use Leningrad.

Corrections! You can't call a territory, wich in past was independent country a city. And Kaliningrad is a Soviet name for region wich was called Prussia before it's partition after the war. Soviets came and ethnically cleansed the region and renamed almost all towns and villages of that territory. The main city was Konigsberg in German times. Before German crusader conquest Baltic Prussians lived in that territory. Now they consists of small comunities and number of people around the world and mostly in Baltics, who considers themselves as Baltic Prussians.
