Kalki 2898 AD Movie Review by Sucharita Tyagi - the central conflict of a film like Kalki, is seemingly drawing parallels with a liberal society’s warnings of an upcoming anarchic state jahaan fascist aur repressive, all powerful governments ke khilaaf ladne ke liye underground militias ki zaroorat padne hi waali hai. The film makes it a point to tell you ki this in fact is happening on our Earth. An early montage shows you all the evils rampant is duniya mein, kuch log nazi salute kar rahe hain, kuch deforestation ki wajah se bhookhe marr rahe hain, aur kuch gunde bachon aur auraton ko uthaa kar le jaa rahe hain. The squelching of a green leaf and a flower underfoot, a clear metaphor for the destruction of nature and innocence in a war-torn world, the rallying cry of the resistance group called “The Rebels” is "For tomorrow". Yaani iss film mein humanity is kagaar par hai ki shastra uthaane padd rahe hain laws aur legalities ke khilaaf. Toh terrorist kahe jaayenge ye ya swantrata senani?
However, despite inadvertently raising these questions, I’m not sure Kalki 2898 AD really WANTS to. The screenplay is unclear ki iss sab ka end goal kya hai. Granted this is only the 1st part of a proposed franchise, the overused and frankly now outdated term “cinematic universe” is flashed boldly as end credits role, but for the life of me I couldn’t figure what this 3-hour long film was saying, or trying to make me feel.

It is clearly revealed at the beginning that in order for him to break the curse of immortality he has to protect this woman and her unborn child ensure that the new world can be created. Drawing meaning and sense of responsibility towards society from every art piece you see shouldn’t be your only goal of your life, if it is then do go out make films with such vision and get it reviewed by common people. This is the best vfx film that came from india...but you chose not to mention that even once! Stunning visuals, sometimes better than hollywood movies. Atleast appreciate where it is due. When you going into the theater with the pen and paper only to write down pointers about what to criticize in your review, how can you even watch a film like an audience! Behave like an audience in the theater, try to give the film a chance, come out of the theater and then become the critique that you had always loved to be. Marvel films have so many logic loop holes but you just ignore them. But when an indian telugu film does it, the film becomes an untouchable. You listed out everything that you didnt like but not even mentioned one thing that the film was good at.

I don’t disagree with this but It is also nice to talk about the good aspects of the movie like how the youtube channel by tried and refused production by Anmol does (not to compare) and how he reviewed the movie Kalki. Krishna in first scene clearly says by end of Kaliyuga Kali becomes so strong that even he can stop the birth of kalki(vishnu Avtar) , for that to not happen he tells Ashwattama to protect Sumathi. This movie does have scenes inspired from Star wars, Dune 2, Mad Max but it doesn't mean its a bad movie. You didn't talk about the cinematic visuals or the acting or any good thing about the movie. Your review sounds more like a rant, what it is missing unlike other movie reviews where you always point out the positive sides of it. Yes the song sequence with Disha was unnecessary but how would we as an audience will know why Complex is important for the protagonist. Anyways I feel your movie review for this could have been better. I enjoyed watching this movie and would recommend anyone. I'm a Telugu guy and I can accept criticism but this review felt like she just wanted to point out the flaws not the positives. The fact that Nag Ashwin dared to do something new is itself an achievement!! The success of Kalki will open new doors for Indian cinema we will see more sci-fi and more unique stories. Just for Nag Ashwin you need to watch this film that man deserves the respect!! If SS Rajamouli wouldn't have risked it and made Bahubali with a 100cr we would still be known as an inferior industry thanks to him people know that Telugu film industry has many great films!!

This movie is trash. come on, people only watching it because of prabhas because he is from South. Same old actor, same of cringy dialogues and scenes ruined this movie . I didn't like sound effects of this movie also , but I do like some of its VFX animation. This movie could have been great only if story was good, and they chose to cast young actors.

I think the algorithm is telling some of these critics that they will get more views only if they criticize the movie. That people in South will defend Prabhas and so instant success based on clicks is guaranteed. Just like producers love making movies with big actors for money, these critics love the algorithms recommended logic to make more money. Dude this project started way before dune released and dune landscape is inherently a big sand ocean not worn down and fertile land. Parallels draw karneke pehle thoda sa research krlo. Also Kali prophecy se based hai tho context and where is this end point should reveal soon enough.
