I respectfully disagree with your review. However that doesn’t mean that I liked the film. The concept was really good. Bringing Mahabharat to life on screen with those amazing scenes and correlating mythology to how the world has shaped in the present was just amazing. However there were many stupid things in the film. (Spoiler Alert) 1) That whole sequence of Prabhas’s entry which they tried to show in a heroic manner with a pinch of comedy really didn’t work. I personally thought that Prabhas was inadequate in his display of humour. 2) The whole sequence with the Cameos of Rajamouli, Ram Gopal Verma and many many other actors which was also shown in humour didn’t land quite well. In fact it felt like a cringe-fest. Prabhas really didn’t contribute much in this film. 3) Amitabh Bacchhan as Ashwatthama was “Oh my God!” His presence made the movie wonderful. He was the one who basically carried most of the movie on his shoulders. After watching the film, I can safely say that there is a reason why he is such a legendary actor and relevant today. 4) Kamal Hassan nailed it! What he did was beyond amazing. There is a reason why he is also a legend and still relevant today. These two actors brought life to the film that was literally killed by Prabhas in the first half. There is a scene between Amitabh Bacchhan and Prabhas where you can clearly see the difference between a noob and a legend. 5) Unlike what Sucharita is saying here Deepika Padukone was not the “Damsel in Distress”. Well she was distressed but not a damsel who needed saving. She was confused yes! But who wouldn’t be when you are about to become a mother to literally GOD! She did well too! She also shouldered much of the responsibility of carrying this film forward. 6) All the sequences of Mahabharat were amazing! It looked as if “yes Mahabharat happened like this!” It was realistic and heart wrenching. All the scenes where Shri Krishna arrived on screen were chilling cause you are used to seeing Krishna in a jolly manner in most of the shows and movies but here he felt relatable and surreal. All the scenes of Shambala were also amazing! All the actors who played the people of Shambala were really amazing too. 7) The fight sequences are too long and stretched. At one point you’ll feel that “ab bass hua” 8) Overall the concept is really good, however next time I hope the makers avoid silly cameos and humour because there is really no need for all of this in a film like this. Note: Before going to watch this film please read up on Mahabharat especially the “war” part of it and please read up about every character in Mahabharat and how they are related to each other. Also please read up on Vishnu and his avatars. You will understand the film only if you have information of the above mentioned historical events and characters in detail. It’s basically Ancient Indian Mythology which I guess we all should atleast have an idea about. If you don’t do that, you’ll be left utterly confused and bored and nothing will make sense to you.

When you going into the theater with the pen and paper only to write down pointers about what to criticize in your review, how can you even watch a film like an audience! I absolutely love Hollywood Sci-fi, action genres. I always wished India would produced something similar to Hollywood caliber. Kalki finally did that. The movie was entertaining and visuals were great. Obviously we won’t get the same Hollywood experience due to the budget, but Kalki did great. Loved the performances, loved the fact that how they showed Mahabharata scenes( those were my favs). Some of the scenes did remind me of Mad Max. The only issue I had was wish Deepika had action scenes. Anyway, overall movie was worth a watch and I would rate 4/5🙂

First, you are extremely impatient while watching a movie. Second, the screenplay is not very good but not even thst loose for you not to understand why Ashwathama does what he does. Third, yes its Dunish but not Dune and the cameos and Prabhas dancing is hideous but Deepika and Amitji's screen presence are amazing. Note: Ashwathsma was cursed by Krishna to become immortal and suffer endlessly that is written in Mahabharat and no Kalki isnt MahabharR because they already had Lors Krishna as theit saviour and Kalki is supposed to be born at the end of Kalyug to cleanse this earth of evil.. The fact that Nag Ashwin dared to do something new is itself an achievement!! The success of Kalki will open new doors for Indian cinema we will see more sci-fi and more unique stories. C'mon girl you did not like anything in nearly 3 hours? I am all for equal opportunity for women and the need for strong female characters in movies. I agree there are flaws, but the film has plenty of amazing parts that more than make up for the defects. Moreover, all this is done without blood and gore and obscenity which is commendable. Very strange review, I was not expecting that.

Disappointing take. Agreed the visuals have mostly been seen-before and Disha Patani's sequence could have been less bleh and Prabha's comedy was okay.. BUT.. you could tell the female characterizations were a proud moment, the movie is inspiring 1000s to crack open their cultural epics, Big B was shining and so were so many amazing actors. It might not be a "women telling women stories" dancing moment but you could tell that the film makers had their control on the narrative (woohoo to the Dutt women!) It felt like I was watching an Indian film in its truest sense, talents from all over the country shining and with amazing quality and production value delivered. It might not be cool to agree with the masses, but we can give credit where its due. Ok.. back to my life. I respect your input so I come out to the comment section on occasion, not a troll I promise :)

What’s the point of making a franchise if all the answers are given in a single movie ? Your review is so biased and incorrect. I found the movie and story pretty clear with their intentions.. maybe nagi is keeping the best for the part 2 ? That’s all what triologies or movies made in parts do… dune 1 ended abruptly and dune 2 kinda made sense. Please understand the movie before throwing your mindless nonsense. Such a biased review! I agree that the pace of first half was slow and had lot of fillers but the vision of bringing mythology and Sci-fi together has to be praised. The movie is designed to please all the demography. A lot of scenes were to appease the kids, which is ok. The VFX was flawless (except younger version of AB) and was on par with Hollywood. Looking back at reviews from you of movies like rocky aur rani ki prem kahani, jawan, pathaan , one can clearly see the bias you hold. This one was way better than those.

This is the most stupid review I have seen. Does she even know that "Kalki" is god's second coming and this story is about that. Krishna in first scene clearly says by end of Kaliyuga Kali becomes so strong that even he can stop the birth of kalki(vishnu Avtar) , for that to not happen he tells Ashwattama to protect Sumathi. She doesn't talk about any of it and she seems clueless about plot. It's pathetic so called movie reviewers like her doesn't even have basic knowledge on what's the film about. Atleast u can open all your ears n see the film instead of sleeping n missing main parts.

Hello namesake...till date i have agreed with almost all your reviews...listened to them passionately and understood movies better. But this review...i couldn't agree with. As your fan i expected you to elaborate the good aspects of the movies as i believe i haven't seen such an effort in indian cinema in a very long time. I understood the motives clearly stated in the movie. Yes the world would crumble if we treat mother nature so disrespectfully that we do today and that will lead to a dystopic future without rain flower or vegetation. It ties up well with the yaskin part when we understand who yaskin truely is. I think the film delivered a lot of good, more than the bad... and was an absolute treat to watch..

I think you couldn’t understand the movie’s context well because the movie was dubbed. Some of the cameos in the film, which tend to tickle the telugu audience won’t make sense to non-telugu movie audience. The quality of the movie made me beam with pride. What differentiated from Brahmastra and others was the relief the movie provided with Prabhas and Bujji’s character. Amitabh Bachchan was awesome in the movie. I would give the move 7/10 at least. It was a fun watch.

Did I laugh and howl watching the film because it was fun? Yes. Was it visually appealing? Yes. Did waste time on trying to make Prabhas like someone into a mix of Star Lord+Aquaman+Thor? YES and it was a bad idea. And it has so many flaws and might I remind you the overload of vfx “inspirations?” You can enjoy a film and critique it too. Most comments are just coming here to bash Sucharita for not mindlessly loving the film. Her job is to see from the microscopic lenses unlike us who are seeing it from a tourist telescope. No one has denied the film’s biggest quality: entertainment, entertainment, entertainment. It is A Full Blown Potboiler for the masses who want the paisa wasool. But how dare she call out the obvious missed opportunities and irritating plot-holes of a film that is set to be the first and base fo an epic cinematic universe?
