That property owner nd keeper should be charger with endangering her. The keeper did all that on purpose. He left her out, fed her and made sure the gates were open..... it makes me so angry 😤. I can only imagine what Jeremy real said to him, I hope he told him off. I did notice the keeper was nowhere to be seen while they finally removed her. THANK GOD FOR MONKEY WORLD AND THEIR TEAM!!! SAVING ONE PRIMATE AT A TIME!!!

I’m so happy the police were able to step in. That awful man almost took her life. It is just astonishing how greed can lead to people standing in the way of a beautiful animal needing to be rescued.

This was so bad. All for some money as usual...shame on them. Kalu is 99.98 % just like humans. Not appropriate. It's really NOT an animal that can be considered any human's property. Although by English Law...small monkeys still are too...given the pet trade in primates STILL going on in a country that considers itself SO civilized? Like so may other countries that allow this. Simply put, It was like the new owners of Broadlands were trying to sell or hold a human being ransom. They waited until the last moment did they? What stars! No. Nothing to do with what Kalu deserved in life and only RANDsome or some RAND At least I think the SA judges and cops stood up for what's right in this situation? It could have been a total disaster when she fell from the tree! Lucky for Kalu and her team she made it "home" to meet her own kind again in this life. Very lucky for her. Much love to all the people in SA who cared for Kalu and the team from Monkey World who rescued her.

Living in Cape Town i can't tell you how surprised we are that the S.A. Police helped out so quickly. Corruption and bribery are par for the course but am pleased that they could assist in this case 😀

I agree. There was absolutely NO REASON for them to lock the gate and obstruct Jeremy and Allison from trying to rescue beautiful Kalu. Nothing but pure, selfish GREED. Now, the only thing they have achieved is making this experience that much more stressful for both Kalu AND her rescuers. SHAME on this person. I am glad Kalu is safely away with Allison and Jeremy now. The new owners should ABSOLUTELY be punished for this.

Wow...How *dramatic* ...My heart's *pounding* so fast...When Kalu hit the ground & didn't move, I literally felt weak in the knees...Then my heart got heavier imagining the tremendous stress that Alison & Jeremy endured during this entire difficult rescue effort...Now I'm really looking forward to learning all about Kalu & how long they think it might take for her (& the other chimps) to be ready for integration...I pray she's still taking a big interest in her new surroundings, & that the other chimps in her intended group will welcome her...I imagine she'll be quite nervous in the beginning...❣

I absolutely HATE the people that poach these animals from the wild and the people that buy these animals and try to humanize them. It's such a sad situation all the way around. And how hard it has to be for the people who are now their caretakers to see how badly abused so many of them are.

Poor kalu had to go through so much! And her keeper was absolutely useless, I bet he was trying to sabotage the whole operation by letting her stay outside and not securing the enclosure better so she got up a tree. Terrible.

The greed of some people knows no bounds. Holding a chimp hostage, simply because he sensed a pay day, is a despicable thing. These people are there to rescue her, not gain a new thing to make money from. I am glad the SA police used their authority wisely.

I hate to think of that money- grubbing so and so buying that woman’s farm. She loved her animals, but he has dollar signs in his eyes. The new farm owner wanted $150,000 Rand to release chimp Kalu ( Extortion!) That equates to $7,642.34 U.S. and 6,098.35 Pounds. As a 40 year old female, Kalu is at the end of her life span although some live longer. Chimps on the black market can go for around $12,500. So the new owner thought he could cash in. Sad. I was appalled at the filthy, rundown space that was supposed to be her bedroom. What a contrast that was to the wonderful indoor enclosures the Monkey World Chimps have. I’m so glad Kalu will live out her last years in a much better environment with companionship of her own kind.

Her keeper needs his bum kicked, he was told (knowing Allison and Jeremy) more then once what to do and NOT what to do and everything he was told not to do he did! Then the gates really WHY?? Yes I agree. Unfortunately Kalu passed away about five or six months after getting to MW due to her being type two diabetic and also having a procedure she couldn’t recover from. But those final months were wonderful and she was blessed

Wow how dare the owner to do that, he was going to kill her if a new home wasn't found, then to demand money , so wrong he obviously misunderstood what monkey world is its ran by donations it cost so so so much money to go get these animals and much much more money to take care of them for the rest of there lives. I want to be mad at her handler too but first of all they are in south africa things are obviously done little bit differently ( hence police not waiting for court papers cause they didn't have to) and we dont know if the actual owner was responsible for everything that went wrong either by forcing the handler or even doing those things him or herself. Like i said its a different world there and things are done differently yes they have laws many of them but there are lots a things that are done kind of like in the wild wild west old days, and for the wealthy there they typically do what they want paying off the officials when necessary

What good does this microchip do? Can anyone tell me? Its not like you chip a dog and when its found the info provided when scanning the chip is just that…information like where its from, which vet etc. Its not giving you health info. You cant track it like its a gps thing. Enlighten me
