Merci Kaluji.

De Q, actually I'm pleasantly surprised Kalu Rimpoche is quite wise compared to many of our other lamas. I just hope this is authentic and he actually embodies this and not just talk.

if its so simple, humble and easy then why they need to costume themselves, sit on high thrones , using carnival tittles instead of their own given name, let people bowing to them without saying wtf are you doing pal we are friends!!!....and trying to let people believe that to learn Buddhism you have to sign a servitude contract with a master..etc.etc.etc...There are gems of teaching in Buddhism, Siddharta Gautama was a genius and his teaching still hold the route even nowadays ,i take them and for the rest..... for the one who like circus shows , let the show begin and enjoy!!!

and most important don't forget to pay your tickets to the shows , the ones who teach and use the word Karma will never have enough faith in their system to believe that "if good and auspicious karma is there the money will come as offerings(dana) from ppl , no need to fix a price on dharma"...no siry noooooo

Foyepolomi Yes; it may appear like this; because of cultural preconceptions, not only easterners! A teacher is necessary because, otherwise, we interpret things according to our own preferences! Now, the teacher as well as us, can hardly live completely outside social or cultural conventions and rules. It is the direct, personal, relation of mutual respect and trust that makes it possible to overcome them…

***** Is it not a paradox, on one hand to reject the role of a teacher and, on the other, to expect him to be immediately perfect !? A good discernment is certainly necessary to avoid to be abused. Normally the function of a real teacher is not to subdue and exploit the students but to help them to develop their own intelligence and independence. If, here and there, one may notice some abuses it is certainly wrong to generalize. If you like you can listen to my teaching Sunday 5th October on how to understand things in a realistic way and how distortions can occur... www.kpg.kalu.org.br/index.php/meditacao2

***** Dear Qed, Your arguments show many presuppositions that could be reexamined. Starting with "idolatry"; what is the problem with it ? Can it not have some positive aspects? Then the concept of "worship" or "war-ship"!? The Tibetan word "mö-gu" just means "respect" and "aspiration" can they also have no positive aspects?
