Such a shame that Kam's career was cut short. The Seahawks would probably be 11-4 right now if Kam started all season, that's how much of a difference he makes..especially against the run and short crossing routes. Thomas was great too but honestly Kam was a once in a generational type talent with his size, speed, power, and agility at safety. The dude hit harder that 98% of linebackers and played Safety. He should get a Hall of Fame spot alongside Sherman and Thomas.

Marvin Lynch those guys got to play in the head hunting era so yes they may have hit harder BUT with the rule changes while Kam was playing and still able to lay down some HUGE hits and have them be legal I think you could really debate who is the hardest hitting safety to ever play. No disrespect to your comment or anything, the guys you named are legends but with all these rule changes and still being able to punish the way he did, Kam is definitely among the top 3 strong safeties of all time. Didn’t even make it 10 full seasons and still had over 800 tackles.

You can't tell me that if you're a defensive coordinator, you wouldn't want this guy on your team. I love from 6:48 on where he just decleats the living bejeezus out of folks. It's amazing how he transfers all his energy into the other players and just absolutely stops them! And, he's a good dude. The Seahawks had a special team and a special cast of characters back in the day, for sure....

The best play I think Kam made in his career, one that encapsulates exactly the kind of absurd playmaker he was and why it is unlikely there will ever be another like him at that position, is a play he made against Arizona on a TNF matchup. Kam is up on the line of scrimmage in a obvious run set, far right side. When the play starts, a normal DB you'd assume would try to split the WR/TE off to the right (TE holds a block to the left to create crease; WR feigns a route and will assist downfield should play extend) and attempt to make the tackle in the run game, limiting the time and pathing it takes to get to the ball carrier. The path of most resistance is towards the RT specifically in the case there was Eric Winston a long time veteran. He not only went the latter route, but used his shoulder essentially to "jack back" a much larger man all while having limited starting momentum. He then proceeded to the running back, who was far enough in the play where Kam couldn't 100% form tackle him (due in part to the crumpled OL below him) but had the ability to change his momentum and in mid fall essentially force him down. The body control he had in mid flight/run, and the power he had under a second prior, to get to that play just blows me away everytime I watch it. I can't see any other strong safety, let alone safety , making that play. You have to be strong enough to reach past that point of most resistance, fast enough to make up ground with said resistance, and have the mind/body control to force a target down even if the angle is not 100% in your favor. The dude was just built different and I am glad we were gifted an opportunity to see him shine on the biggest stages the sport had to offer.
